I weep thinking of a line-up of Bendall and Nick Hanson at the same time.
But if Avo starts at the 3,he'll have to go against guys like Schilb and Jeffers. If he has to do that,as good as he is on Defense,we're gonna get murdered

Bendall will be in the rotation when they need physical play and tough rebounding...He is a physical player who proved that towards the end of last season when he was playing slop minutes? go back and look through the box scores, the most he played in any game during and after the UIC loss was 4 mins. hell he played 1 minute when we were getting blown out by Florida.

All due respect, guys, but I don't believe message boards are a place to criticize the players. Maybe my advanced age gives me a better perspective on this, but these are kids, and they are busting their a$$es for our entertainment. A guy like Mike Bendall is juggling the intense demands of practicing and playing for a high level D1 basketball program with classes and school -- and doing it without a scholarship. That deserves our thanks and admiration.
And one other thing -- Rob Jeter comes out of the Bo Ryan school, as we all know. You aren't on his team if he doesn't believe you can play, and if necessary, play in the games. And sometimes it is necessary, as Mike showed last year, and as Tanner Bronson showed at Wisconsin. I thought Mike handled himself very well in the games he played last year.
JMHO.

Bottom line UWM will have a very good year this year.......Paulson & Franklin will step in and fill the shoes that need to be filled

I hope to high hell Bendall doesnt see the floor....some people may not like it but this is the place to vent about Panther basketball and if individual names come into play so be it...they might not want to hear it but that is in fact the nature of the business..its D1 athletics if someone is not performing to standards I think people on the message board should be allowed to speak their opinions on the team and player

What do you have to base this on? We have already established that he has not played a whole lot, so what are you basing your opinion on? Are you at practice every day watching him bust his ass to get better? What do you mean by him not cutting it or making the standards? Not to be controversial but it sounds to be like you are just as opinionated as anyone else
Bendall will play this year so everyone needs to just get over that...He is a big body on a team that sorely lacks big bodies...He is also very physical and plays good interior defense....Sure he may not be the scoring threat AT was, but hell give the kid a break

from the practices i've seen, Averkamp has definitely overachieved. i'm not saying he'll play a lot, or at all, but i wouldn't be surprised if we start getting into foul trouble or if there's an injury, hear his name called.

I've watched this team all season and I have to say...This may be the worst UWM Men's basketball team I've seen. They may be worse than those late 90's teams. At least those teams had one really good player (Shannon Smith) I hope that the additions to the team next year include some real basketball players. Guys that know how to play the game and can score. This years team is fundementally bad and often lack any effort. I am very dissappointed with the teams performance.

Not sure if this team is as bad as the three-win 1997-98 team or not, but it's a close call. That team at least has some size with Chad Angeli and Damien Ninkovic. So for anyone here who remembers that team, who would win? This year's team, or the 1997-98 team? Please, for anyone on this board from the current team or that 97-98 team, don't take offense.

Wow, raar is in the Festivus season spirit by having the "Airing of Grievances". Usually I don't care what people say on a board but to say that these kids often lack any effort is a complete joke. The kids are playing hard and it doesn't help that Massiah, Paulsen, Hansen, Skinner and Franklin have to play out of position. I'm not really sure what any mid-major coach could do with losing 7 seniors. Are there some games that I thought UWM could win, of corse, but am I shocked that this team is currently struggling - not really. How can you make a statement that this is the worst team after only 13 games? It's way to early to make statement like that. Ask McCabe or pnthr97 about the 97-98 team, UWM went 3-24 that year.

You guys are unreal... I hope that the additions to the team next year include some real basketball players. Guys that know how to play the game and can score. ...are you kidding me. Who the heck are you to say that about our STUDENT-athletes...we got spoiled is all...we'll be back to "mid-major" super-stardom next year...just you watch

Lack effort? Raar are you kidding me? That may be the ONLY thing our team has right now. No they are not doing good right now, but they never ever give up.
Wow...
