The event sucked because of the timing. It needs to go back to Friday Night at the Klotsche where you could definitely draw 500 students instead of the 100 that trickled in and out of the arena. That is something that has to happen, otherwise the event is not worth having at all. That being said, Charlie Swiggett, look the #$%^ out because that guy can play.

once again.. remember who you are. many teams in the Horizon do not have these type of events for this very reason!!! No one else in the HL has a TV contract either.

I guess in my assessment Sam Mauldin looked clumsy and if someone plays good position defense on Bendall I fully expect him to f*** it up....we will be better than people expect but that will be because of good guard play...Our big men are horrible....I do not care what others say but their footwork is horrible and they are extremely unathletic....not happy with our bigs right now

Mauldin has only been back for about a week so he's still got a lot of rust on him. i think he'll be fine once he gets more reps.

Yeah, and don't forget about Paulsen. The man is a beast, he'll be a leader on this team for the next couple years.

That is pretty weak. But with a poor student turn out its hard to expect a bigger number. Our alumni base is not very hard core fans at this point and I doubt many really know the importance of this event for recruiting. Teddy, I'm not sure how you define hard core fans, and it's true that by percentage, most UWM alums aren't huge UWM sports fans. However, the percentage of UWM sports fans that are alums is significant. I'm sure many of those fans, including many members of this board, keep up to speed on recruiting as much as they can. There are very few men's basketball games at which the student section makes up the majority of attendees. I don't have a clue how many of the other fans in attendance are alums, but I'd guess there are usually one or two on hand. All that being said, I think you're probably thinking along the right lines in terms of the importance of increasing student attendance for this event, which seems to be targeted much more to the students than to other fans. I think holding this event on campus would be a good move for the success of this particular event, but I don't think that small gain would be worth diluting the marketing message that the Cell is the home of Panther hoops.

-Torre Johnson - He's a lock for 2008 Horizon POY The way the Horizon usually does it is to reward long term seniors. I think Cotton will probably be POY in 2007-08 (next year).

That's probably true...Brandon Cotton is an amazing player...but I just couldn't believe how good Torre actually was. I can't think of any player that has ever played in the Horizon league that has his skill set. Think Brandon Polk meets Hakim Warrick....that's the best I got

Think Rodney Carney meets the weight room. Serious, rim-rocking hops.
