No I don't think Kevin has much of a say in the hiring process. Maybe you're thinking of Jason Clark.

Kevin O'Connor provides an excellent source of knowledge on college basketball. He keeps up with all of the current information on teams and coaches (part of his job). I am sure Bud respects his opinion.

Huh? What? Since when does the coach of UW have any influence on what coach Iowa State hires? What, you think that Bo called up Jamie Pollard and asked him to interview Rob? You think he wants Rob out of the state because of the possibility of UWM beating UW sometime in the future? I don't get this whole fascination with people blaming UW for anything that goes the way people don't want it to. The only connection with UW (and it's the reason why Rob is getting interviewed) is Pollard used to be the #2 guy behind Richter/Alvarez. THAT'S IT!!!

That's not usual protocol for SIDs ... of course, UWM has a much smaller athletic staff than most major universities.

I am sure he is on the board for interviewing coaches, however that doesn't give credibility. For example when coaches are hired no matter what the sport, at all universities, they have coaches from other sports sit in on the interviews and share opinions. That doesn't mean the women's tennis coach knows who to hire for basketball and so on. I am sure Kevin plays some type of roll, however I believe ultimately it will be left up the the AD and his board

UWM is a major university?
This is what it has come to today, taking cheap shots at my school.

I'm feeling Bo's finger prints too. No doubt that Jeter called him about the potential move to Iowa State.
Did I metion that UW-Madison is no friend of UW-Milwaukee?
If you own any red and white clothing take it to Goodwill. I did that years ago.

If you own any red and white clothing take it to Goodwill. I did that years ago. Can anyone explain why they think Bo Ryan had anything do do with Jamie Pollard interviewing Rob? Isn't it at all possible that Jamie knew Rob from their time together at UW? Please...it's sort of rediculous to assume Bo had a part in it. He no longer has to stand up for Rob, especially to someone like Jamie.

No he does not have to stand up for Rob, but given the fact that Rob respects his opinion immensely, and the fact that the interview was in Madison, gives way to some suspicions. Nothing confirmed, just suspicions.

From the Iowa State Website:
Heathrow user profile Ames, Iowa Sophomore Post #613 Yeah, look what hiring a "name" has gotten Texas Tech - they suck Reply
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeter has come fully endorsed by Bo Ryan, and Jamie has watched him work for four years. That's good enough for me. Jeter will be a basketball god in Ames.

No evidence whatsoever. But, I'll take a swing at UW whenever I have the chance.
BTW, I just dislike their corrupt athletics program. Barry Alverez runs a clean department.
