ok if ppl are gonna debate fan's comments, please do it via PMs or some other way as this is going on too long on this thread. i don't blame jeter for talking to iowa state considering its from a guy he knows there. i believe he's being respectful and not trying to burn any bridges. my g/f and i watched Jeter's show last night and based off of body language and attitude he didn't seem like he wanted to leave but didn't want to be disrespectful and just flat out say no. i don't think he'll go considering he only has one year of head coaching experience, which is unlike Matta considering he coached at Xavier prior to Butler. Pantherholic, you and panther97, hackpanther and any other of you mindless people im forgetting should be the last ones to tell people to PM "fan". You guys get off topic more than anyone on this board.......thus the reason I no longer chose to post. Fan has the right to state his opinion on the subject (isn't that the pooint of a disscussion board). All you guys ever do is post back and forth between eachother about subjects you clearly know nothing about. You guys claim to have inside information which 90% of the time turns out to be bogus anyway........ so I say to you let the man speak his mind.......you guys might try doing something with you life other than sit on a message board and try to limit what others have to say...............PEACE I'M OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not even worth my time to respond to. Peace out dude.

...I don't think Jeter will leave, I think he is entertaining offers from other schools because that's how coaches get raises these days. It would be stupid for him not to at least interview for the job. He has now forced Bud to pay up.

Good god, why would anyone want to live in Iowa?
If he bolts, UWM should take another look at Metro State's Mike Dunlap, who probably would have been a better fit for this year's team anyhow. He, like Pearl Before him, has an incredible coaching record.

Mike Dunlap would have to be the #1 candidate if Jeter (god forbid) leaves.

I have 900,000 reasons why Jeter will not leave THIS year. We all understand that it was only a matter of time until the big boys would come calling Jeter (I never thought quite this fast). The only down side is now knowing that he has an interest in leaving here and it will only take the decent offer to get him away (ISU is nothing more than an ok offer at best). The time is short I fear for us to have Jeter here.

u got it mkebest...everyone keeps saying Jeter is doing Pollard a favor, I think it is the other way around. Pollard is helping to create national buzz about Jeter just by Jeter being mentioned as a candidate at Iowa State. And Jeter in turn is showing he has an interest in moving up someday to the Big 10 or 12. It would be career suicide if a young inexperienced coach didn't at least interview when requested to by a bigger program. Jeter is a smart man, he decided he wasn't ready to take the UWM job when Bo left (it was offered before Pearl) and only he knows if he is ready for the next step up or not. Remember Jeter is in a pretty good situation at UWM to be able to have "his" players throughout the roster in only year two. That is the benefit of having seven seniors (plus 3 last year), he has the ability to turn over the roster with his guys overnight. We will have to wait and see, you can't blame Jeter for listening and you can't blame in for taking the ISU job if its offered and he has the right to take as much time as he needs to decide. I hope he stays, I believe he was the right choice a year ago and has the opportunity to achieve some great things over the next few years at UWM before he moves on.

I don't think the numbers will work for Iowa State. They still have to pay the old coach roughly %1.5 million. They'd have to pay UWM 900K for Jete Jete and then they'd still have to pay him his salary and possible bonuses. This doesn't account for the salaries of Jete Jete's assistants as I've heard the entire or almost entire coaching staff at IA State was booted. I just don't think the numbers work but I could be wrong.

I seem to recall a good amount of people asking that question about TN as well.
I think the easiest answer is it's closer to me in CO. You have easier access to amish furniture.
Probably a mid-tier major conference would help in recruiting, but that's really minor.
Being closer to me is definitely the biggest benefit.

I agree damasa, when the AD says publicly they are going to be frugal (sp) I think that alone knocks Jeter out because of the 900,00 buyout UWM would have coming its way. That means for a head coach next year it would cost ISU at least $3 million (1.5 old coach, 900k buyout and a 600K min. salary for Jeter). I would think Jeter will be here a few more years and if things happen to really fall right, maybe we can manage to lock him up for longer than that with some big contract and a possilbe move to a bigger conference.
