I haven't seen any of the games, but looking at the box scores, Tyrone Young looks to be getting the hang of it. He gets his share of points with the very limited minutes he gets. Must be taking good shots too, going 3-4 or 4-5 in the last few games. Again, I haven't seen the games but I am starting to get encouraged by his limited production. Anyone?

I was actually impressed with Tyrone on offense and defense tonight. He has done a nice job with increased minutes during the last two games because of blowouts. The better he keeps playing this season makes me feel better and better about next year.

yeah...looks like he is slowing down a bit where he was rushing before. An adjustment most likely have to make going from juco to D1 ball. He just got limited chances to make the adjustment joining a team that returning basically their top 6 from last year.

I would like to see him get some real minutes, he looks as though he has potential to pick up some scoring slack when Joah, AT, or Boo are off. Let's not forget, he was a top 5 juco player, he definetly has it in him to put down a big game. I have a feeling that once he clicks, he is gonna blow up out of nowhere. He just needs more PT. Could be key for a possible tourney run.

Tyrone is going to be an integral part of our team next year...He is starting to learn the offense and the system better..It is clear that the guys he is playing with know he is the man and he is the go to guy when he is in the game
Also on a side note, I am real real impressed with Bendall..I tihnk he will do a fine job taking over for AT next year...They are very much the same player except Bendall is a meaner SOB and is more physical...They are both very very smart players and are tough inside
I like what our future looks like..This reminds me of a few years ago when Tucker, Jones, Frederick, Winston, Lettenberger and all those guys left...Everyone thought we were sh*t out of luck but then Page stepped up, after him it was McCants after him it was Tucker and then Boo Davis...WE will have someone step up next year and we will be just fine

Agreed. To a degree. Someone mentioned to me while walking to the Miller Time Pub that the end of the Youngstown game was a glimpse into the future. If that's the future, it looks mighty bleak. Folks, Derrick Wimmer, Steve Hoelzel and Myles McKay will continue to get spare playing time (if any) in 2006-07. Players like Tyrone, Massiah and Bendall will be key reserves. Please don't think for a minute, though, that Mike Bendall will be in the starting lineup next year and playing 30 minutes a game just because he's the only power forward that you've seen. For one, Paige Paulson was the South Dakota state Player of the Year in 2003 and figures to step in at the 4. In addition, you can pencil Ricky Franklin in at point guard right now. The other starters have yet to be recruited.

That's a really bad thing if you think Rob is going to find starters at the wing spots in recruiting still. Maybe they will start 2 years from now, but true freshman wing players who have yet to show up on the radar that will be made starters right away is a VERY bad thing.

I have heard that Andre Gullens, Mario Little and D'Angalo Jackson can all really play.

Jackson is not a wing player at his height, not to mention he'd like to leave Milwaukee for college.

That's exactly what he's stated, Hops. But with his recent right ankle injury, it's likely that his options have dwindled to a degree. In addition, it appears that Rob is willing to entertain the idea of playing small and fast. Perhaps a three-guard alignment with, let's say, Paige Paulson and Marcus Sikes or Calvin Walls isn't out of the question. Rob's recruiting skills should not be underestimated. Remember, he's still got at least three recruiting bullets left for next season.

I'd prefer to run a 3-guard attack with Tony Mane instead of Jackson.

Paul, have you found anything recent on Gullens or Little? Everything I've turned up is old and not really helpful.

Is there really no chance that Young gets a shot at the two spot? Or what about Swiggett? All I have heard is really good things and seen multiple quotes from Jeter saying how no one realizes how good he really is.
I just find it hard to believe that out of our current roster and commits we only have two starters to show for which means three spots going to the last three scholarships? I have faith in Jeter to recruit talent, but that is asking a bit much if we hope to be competitive next year.

Oh, I would never say that Tyrone has no shot at winning a starting spot. I just feel that even on such a senior-laden squad, Tyrone should have earned more than mere mop-up time by this point of the season. Having said that, I agree that Tyvo could be a major x-factor once the postseason arrives. He is a tough guard for anyone in our league (if he can consistently better calculate the distance of the basket from where he is standing on the floor).
