hard to say what'll happen this game. we all hope that Joah will put his ego and wishful aspirations in check and that the team comes out determined and hungry to get a win but you never know. i've been checking detroit's board and the Detroit Free Press and i haven't seen any update on Cotton. we should win this game. i just wish i didn't have to work wednesday night

well, tucker was the key to this road win last year. so, hopefully he pulls his head out of his rear to get back to playing the kind of game he should be. thankfully there's no national coverage so that should help!
this is a big game. i expected to drop a game or two on this long road trip, however not the first one. gotta get some momentum and mojo back wednesday.

I think the loss at GB might give the team the fire they needed to make it through this insane stretch.
I hope...

This game is a MUST win to get the conference tourney here. Butler may not lose again (except hopefully to us on February 4th). The Loyola game on the 30th could be tough. I'm not too worried about WSU, they were undefeated when we played them here last year too, but if we lose to Detroit anything can happen in that game as well.

really, all are games are in that "must win" realm from here on out should we want to achieve our very lofty goals. unfortunately, or fortunately depending how you look at it... there's very few gimmies left in this conference. nobody is a push over like years past with CSU and YSU. that hopefully will help us out as well. Butler is good but they lack depth which could catch up with them as conference play wears on. i think 3 losses will win this league but it will just barely win it.

I have no idea what to expect from us in Detroit. Joah shot 10-18 which is not bad at all, but 0-6 from 3 and 1-8 from the line is pretty dismal. He is such a matchup problem I wish he would play down low

I think Brandon Cotton injured his hand and hasn't been playing much, if at all.
After Evanoschko tore our defense up, Jon Goode(#25) on Detroit worries me.
He can shoot the '3' and penetrate and eventhough he doesn't have great size(5'10/160)...he'll be tough to handle.
I think if the guys can keep up their positivity and focus on getting quality possessions on the offensive end, they'll be in good shape.

If that is a link to John Goode's profile the link is messed up and goes to Tryl Hartfield's picture

I think you all are blowing this out of proportion..
This is NOT a must win to get the tourney here in Milwaukee...Not anymore than any other game thus far on our conference schedule...It is soooooooo early in the season to say anything about that...Butler will certainly lose again in conference...They are a good team but they will lose at least 2-3 more games..Mark my words
Joah took some poor shots last game but get off the guys back...He still played a pretty decent game....If we are goign to gripe about anyone and ride their back it should be Mark Pancratz...He brings absolutley NOTHING to the table and is a total liability to our team...I have watched him all 5 years now and he does hustle but does absolutley nothing else...I used to think he was a solid defender but even that has slipped over hte last two years

Early line on the game:
UWM -5
I agree about Pancratz, he needs to do the little things to at least justify being on the floor - take charges and play solid D.

Not to speak for anyone else, but I don't think anyone here thinks badly of Joah Tucker as a person or a ballplayer.
My underlying thought is that he IS really good. Arguably the best player on the team. But imagine how much better he'd be if he did more of the "little things", like take charges, like make his free throws, like pass when he's triple-teamed. I get the feeling that sometimes he thinks too much about what he's doing, or going to do, rather than letting it come to him.
Pancratz plays his role well, in my opinion. Not everyone's going to be able to score at will or shoot the lights out, but that doesn't diminish their role in the scope of the team.
Believe me, I'd much rather see someone in there with at least some offensive capabilities, but who else is there? Pancratz is what he is. A slow white guy who can play one-on-one defense decently enough, takes charges whenever (and I mean whenever!) possible and when presented with an open shot can knock it down. Aside from that, none of us really know what he brings to the team off-court. Which is where I think he's valuable.
