Anyone think the two meetings with UIC and Jimmy Collins each year and the week of publicity leading up to the Illinois game and all the stress related to the constant bringing up of Deon Thomas played a part in this decision?

I wouldn't think so.

No, but if anything there goes an ESPN game.

Actually I was asking myself the same thing. Don't think so, but you never know.

No, but if anything there goes an ESPN game. Well ESPN would televise it if UIC would get its crap together and become a quality team again.

IM sure bruce is able to deal with the pressures he faces. This was a smart move for him, but like others I thought he would wait one more year. He would have had a possible top 25 team, if someone can match the leadership and points that Ed brought to the table. But this job is not bad at all, he has a chance to use UT as a spring board for a bigger job.
I have followed UIC/Horizon league for many years, but until the last 4 yrs have I really watched the coahes and staff. My question is about Bo Ryan, why did he get the job at UW after only leading UWM to a sub .500 seasons. You would think Pearl could have waited out and grabbed a job at a Big 10 school.

It will be interesting to see what becomes of the UWM-UIC rivalry. It only got its legs once Bruce came to UWM.

Because he won multiple national championships at D2.
I'm not sure Pearl was welcome in the Big 10 after the UI incident.

Your right, about 3 yrs ago the LU UIC match up was big, now UWM is bigger, I guess it all depends on what both teams do in the next few years. UWM will be at the top next year, and UIC should be in the middle of the pack. But I like our rivalry, and I hope the students and true fans can keep it going even without the Jimmy/Bruce problems.

Bruce was never going to get a B10 job. Too much bad history in that league. The trips to Champaign would have been rougher than the game at AllState.
Also, I'd be careful to rip on UIC. What makes any of you so sure that you're going to continue this success? UIC has had one bad year. I suppose that time will tell on all fronts.

Actually UWM was above .500 each of those years ... 15 wins in each. It was no secret that Ryan's dream job was Wisconsin, so when Majerus opted not to enter the UW search most knew they would turn to Ryan. Ryan's track record at DIII plus the ability to breathe life into a dormant program were enough to convice UW. I think it's obviously worked out well.

I dont believe he gets black balled from the Big 10, but I just think that Pearl seems to have done a better job then Ryan while at UWM, I just figured he would have a Big 10 job if he waited.

I think Bruce could have gotten a Big Ten job, but its very possible that maybe he didn't want it as much as we thought he did.
I think the ability to get away from this whole thing had to factor into his decision somewhat.
