I think he will stay for another 1-2 years. My thoughts are his family will hold him down a little longer, and also with the strength our team looks to have next year...he may want to make it a repeat season to prove it wasn't a fluke!
Then again though, getting to the Elite 8 is a hard act to follow! (Hey, ya gotta have confidence!)

he just signed that new extension last year (or before the start of this year) which raised his salary higher thatn the chancelor (sp?) by quite a bit. so as far as re-doing his contract i'm not sure how much more they are going to be willing to do. the extension he signed is supposed to go through teh '08 season i believe.
i am sure here is someone out there that has the info on the most recent extension.........anyone?? Bueller?? Bueller??

He'll stay at least one more year, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him leave before 2009.

I really think Bruce does appreciate the fan base he has here, and I think he truly wants to see this team succeed.....I know he is a great coach and deserves more than he can get in Milwaukee...I just hope he at least stays one more year to give my favorite guys a GREAT senior year!!!

From his father.
"Bruce loves it here," said Pearl's father, Bernie Pearl. "Number 1, no one is knocking at the door. Number 2, you don't leave something you really like unless someone comes along with something a lot better. I don't see it and I don't think Bruce sees it."

Where's he going to go this year? Forget UMass. He's got a better job here. UT might be more short run money but no one has won there. It didn't do much for Kevin O'Neill's career. I bet he would have gone to Indiana but they are keeping Davis. It'd be hard to turn down Virginia but I haven't heard him mentioned for that. He can build this job into a Marquette-equivalent postion. If he does that, he's only going to leave for a super program and there are only a handful of those.

I dont see what program would be better right now for him. Sure other schools were more notable, but he has created a name for this school that now recieves national attention (a program that he helped build), why leave now and abandon the fruits of his labor? UWM is now becoming a more prominent program so he'll probably be interesed in seeing how much growth is possible.

i can see the byline for the virgina news papers : conservative christian soft spoken south, hires liberal east coast jew with flashy charisma. im not making fun of you. i just think that pearl would not fit in well in the south. not to put him down. but its just really different down there. and yes, virgina fits the definition of the south. all the waitresses call you hun, they have confederate flags on peoples trailers. and so on.

I agree it is the south and I'm not saying he'd fit in (although you've got Pitino at Louisville, Calipari at Memphis, etc) and, as I said, I don't think he's being mentioned there. But if they offered it to him, I suspect that he'd take it. My point is that its going to take something like Virginia - an ACC school with some tradition to get him to leave. I think he's reached the point where he can hold out for that, but, yeah, I'm sure he'd prefer some place like Pitt, UCLA, BC or Villanova. And those jobs aren't open

Hypothetically, if the Virginia job was offered to BP, I honestly don't think he would take it. BP is a competitor, a proud man (and I mean that in a good way), and you are not going to "win" at Virginia - plain and simple. Sure, you may win games, but you are not going to win championships -regular season or tournament. On your best year, you will still likely be playing for 3rd place behind the likes of Duke and UNC. BP can, and likely will, hold out for a job that is "top notch" as well as being a place he can "win."
Going a step further, the Tennessee job.........another job that is not really a good fit for BP's personality. No matter what, men's basketball is fighting to be second fiddle. Tennessee is a football school - make no bones about it, football is king - and is BP going to want to share the limelight with Pat Summit and the women's program? I don't think so - but who knows...........

It will be tough to keep Bruce...I do however believe he will stay for another year or two....
His wife is finishing up her nursing degree at the school and he has a child in high school I believe.....
We have everyone returning next year excpet for Ed and James...We are going to be excellent thats for damn sure...He wont leave Adrian, Joah and Chris behind for their senior years...
He will be back and willl really put us on the map as we will spend the majority of the year in the top 25 including starting the season top 20
Great job Bruce...Do whats best for yourself, you have earned it and I will be forever thankful for restoring a program and bringing it such success...Thank you

Wait until the season ends....I guarantee there are knocks at the door, and he is offered more than $300,000 or whatever you pay him.

He won't be leaving, he says so.
It's like the time my friend called me and told me that I was arrested last night. I said no, I wasn't, I've been home the whole time, but they still persisted and said that they saw the cops put me in the back of their car. People come up with the strangest things and then they stick to them even when they are told the straight up truth from the source itself.
at least not in the upcoming year or two
