5 tourney tantalizers By Nat Newell nat.newell@indystar.com February 27, 2004 Who are the local candidates for The Indianapolis Star Indiana Mr. Basketball? Some of the area's top players -- Oden, Lawrence North's Mike Conley, Carmel's Josh McRoberts, Pendleton Heights' Nick Rogers and Jason Holsinger of Lapel -- aren't eligible because they're underclassmen. That leaves A.J. Ratliff and Anthony Passley of North Central as the primary local possibilities. They deserve consideration in a field that lacks a dominating player. Because Ratliff and Passley are both so important to the Panthers' success, they could split the voting. www.indystar.com/articles/1/124330-4891-014.html

OH MAN, every time I read somthing about this guy, it makes me feel more and more relaxed about next season. He knows how to handle the pressure, the game and especially the media. Is Mr. Indiana really coming to UWM? This is going to skyrocket our programs credibility, right from under Butler's noses. And such a leader too!!! This is going to be a fan favorite!!

North Central plays 2 games today, the panthers won the fist game 73 - 53 and moved on to meet Lawrence North, the No.1 team in the state. North Central is the No.2 team in the state. I hate when the tourney is set up like this and it bugs me that Wisconsin's tourney is set up the same way. There is no reason that the top 2 teams in the state should have to meet in a Regional final for a chance to go to state. Passley had 17 points in the opener. The article also says that Passley hit 2 3-Pointers, but if you check the box score (5 - 9, 7 - 9), I think that might be a typing mistake ;D Lawrence North, North Central meet tonight By Pat McKee pat.mckee@indystar.com March 13, 2004 Lawrence North and North Central played like the state's top two high school boys basketball teams today, each easily advancing to the final of the Class 4A regional tonight at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Senior Anthony Sargent and sophomore Mike Conley sparked the No. 1 Wildcats to a 74-52 victory over Northwest. That came after seniors Anthony Passley and A.J. Ratliff plus freshman Eric Gordon combined to propel the No. 2 Panthers to a 73-53 triumph over Franklin Central. www.indystar.com/articles/7/129090-4397-092.html

Looks like a great battle tonight at Hinkle! Good thing Passley is getting some practice time on that floor...he will be visiting it many times in the next four years.
Every article I read about him I just get more and more excited. Can we assume he is the best recruit of out high school ever to land at UWM?
Thanks for the updates...
Later, UWMfreak

Coach Pearl has said himself that Passley is by far the best high school player to come to UWM. For my money, getting Dupree Fletcher here would be just as big. By the way, does anyone know who BP was watching the other night at the Dominican game?

Pearl would have been looking at Blount, a 6'1 PG

Passley puts in 13 & 4 in his final game aganist the No. 1 team in the state. Keep working hard young man and maybe we'll see you starting at the 4 next year. Wildcats play up to ranking Class 4A No. 1 Lawrence North stops No. 2 North Central in Hinkle Regional. By Pat McKee pat.mckee@indystar.com March 14, 2004 Lawrence North delivered a swift and lethal knockout Saturday night in a battle of heavyweights in the Class 4A high school boys basketball regional at Hinkle Fieldhouse. After the Wildcats arrived late to the facility, warming up for less than 12 minutes and struggling to find a rhythm for three-plus quarters, senior Anthony Sargent and sophomore Mike Conley ignited a game-turning blitz and top-ranked Lawrence North went on to post a 66-53 victory over No. 2 North Central. www.indystar.com/articles/9/129283-9149-042.html
