Does anyone know what the possibilities of either former Vincent standouts Greg Brown or Deonte Tatum in a Panther uniform next year? I know they both went the JUCO route and haven't heard anything about them signing anywhere.

Brown is still planning on heading to U of Miami next year but as far as I have heard he was waiting until the late signing period, so who knows, until he signs on the dotted line he could end up at UWM - but I really doubt it. As for Deonte Tatum, I have no idea

Not so sure Brown is headed to Miami, was curious because I thought I saw him at a game... Posted on Thu, Mar. 11, 2004 UM MEN'S BASKETBALL Clark safe for a week BY MICHELLE KAUFMAN mkaufman@herald.com Perry Clark will remain the University of Miami basketball coach at least until next week. Athletic director Paul Dee said the evaluation process continues following the Hurricanes' 14-16 season, and he will meet with president Donna Shalala early next week regarding Clark's future. ''We are looking at the totality of issues, and will make a decision from there,'' Dee said. In the meantime, Clark is trying to ignore distractions and conduct business as usual. He was heading to Lakeland today to recruit at the state high school playoffs and is flying to Seattle this weekend to ''touch base'' with prize recruit C.J. Giles, who signed a letter of intent in November and reiterated his commitment to Clark on Tuesday. Clark is also said to be pursuing Je'Kel Foster, a point guard at Chipola Community College in Marianna. Foster, a Mississippi native, led his team to a 30-3 record with 16.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. Asked how he is handling his job insecurity on the recruiting trail, Clark said: ``I tell the kids my athletic director told me I'm still his coach, and I still have a job to do to make this team better.'' Dee and Shalala are weighing not only the UM win-loss record, but the players' academic performance, team attitude, attendance and other intangibles, Dee said. There are also sizable financial considerations. Clark has three years remaining on his contract and would be owed roughly $2.25 million if UM terminates him. The spring signing day for recruits is April 14, but Dee said he will not be rushed into a decision. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- © 2004 The Miami Herald and wire service sources. Just read something that was written before the season started that said Clemson, Charlotte and New Mexico State were interested in Tatum.

As far as I can tell Tatum and Brown are still unsigned....it will be curious to see if Bruce Pearl uses his last remaining scholarship this summer or banks it for next year. Wright and McCants are the only scholarship seniors this season and Garden City CC's Torre Johnson will probably get one of those scholarships!

Don't forget about Rob Sanders, who would be the third scholarship senior for the coming season. Also, it appears that we're banking the fourth scholarship for next year's recruiting class. The Wisconsin senior class seems to be both deeper and more talented than the 2004 group. You're absolutely right about Johnson: If he's interested, so are we. I believe he would be the crown jewel of the 2005 class no matter what.

Tatum visited U of Hawii last week. I didn't hear what he thought of the University (but come on, playing in Hawii can't be that bad ). I have also heard that he is interested in UWM.

Rob Sanders isn't on a basketball scholarship because he was never released from his scholarship at Toledo. I am pretty sure about this. I believe there was some hard feelings between the Toledo's coach Stan Joplin and Tony Jones after Jones left Toledo for UWM. This came up again when Sanders' Toledo roommate Terry Reynolds was looking to transfer and wasn't going to be released from his scholarship (I heard because he was considering UWM). reynolds ended up at George Mason under former Bowling Green (Toledo, OH) coach Jim Larranga.
