Tuesday 8:00 - Nationally Televised. Milwaukee vs. UIC, winner goes dancing! UIC Discussion board: members4.boardhost.com/uicflames/index.html?1052840010UWM/UIC games have become the most heated, ugliest, and largest Horizon League rival matches! Surely, with everything on the line Tuesday night, this will become one of the most memorable games between these two schools. Dylan has to dominate in this game, bring everything he has for us to win. Tucker, Tigert and Milks will be battling down low in what will probably be a rough game in the paint. What we need is for Ed, Hill and Kadima to hold Bailey and Banks. Banks is the key to their team, take him out and we'll be in a pretty sweet position. It's our home court, TAKE OVER THE GAME. Students who are seniors...this is it. Let everything go Tuesday. It's our senior night. Be louder, noisier, nastier than you have ever been before. In the past we have easily got in the heads of UIC...we can do it again and take them out of the game. Get there 1 hour early and get on them right away. FIRE UP MILWAUKEE! THE TOURNY IS ON THE LINE! Later, UWMfreak

Post-game words flame bitter rivalryTitle at stake for UWM, Ill.-Chicago[/color] By DAN MANOYAN dmanoyan@journalsentinel.com Posted: March 7, 2004 It isn't that the Horizon League tournament championship game needs an issue to motivate the teams, what with bitter rivals UW-Milwaukee and Illinois-Chicago playing with a winner-take-all trip to the NCAA tournament at stake. But Flames coach Jimmy Collins apparently thinks he has one. After his team ousted Butler, 65-56, in a Saturday night semifinal contest, Collins had this to say about going back to Milwaukee for the nationally televised championship game at 8 p.m. Tuesday. "We're looking forward to it," Collins said. "We heard some of the players from Milwaukee said that they hoped we got there again. So now we're going." DAN MANOYAN's pre-game coverage continues at: www.jsonline.com/sports/coll/mar04/213046.aspFrom the March 8, 2004 editions of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel You've got to hand it to PearlPosted: March 7, 2004 Dale Hofmann We should be glad that none of the men who led Wisconsin's Division I men's basketball programs was named coach of the year in his conference this season. Greed is a terrible thing. Had Tom Crean, Bo Ryan or Bruce Pearl earned that honor for a third straight year, the state might be crawling with scientists screening for mental steroids. The cost of retiring the trophies alone could have created enemies all over the Midwest. Not that any of the three had a terrible year. Ryan kept the University of Wisconsin in the running for the Big Ten championship until the final second of the regular season, and Crean's Marquette team is closing well after struggling for months to replace Dwyane Wade and Robert Jackson with a committee. Crean did sweep Louisville, and anyone who can swat the strut out of Rick Pitino twice in five weeks deserves America's gratitude. Interesting points made at the end of Dan Manoyan's article about Milwaukee being a tough place to play, and how the fans have gotten to the players...especially Bailey! Keep up the good work!

"We don't play crowds, we play people," said Collins, downplaying UWM's home-floor advantage. "It's just something we've got to do. I'm just glad we're going back up there, because if we weren't it would mean we lost."
Flames senior point guard Martell Bailey admits that Milwaukee had one of the toughest crowds he has faced in the Horizon League.
"It's tough all over, but I've heard a lot in Milwaukee," Bailey said. "You know stuff, like, my brother (former Loyola guard David Bailey) is better than me. But I just block them out and play."
NICE WORK PANTHER FANS !!!

WOW!!!! Thats all I have to say. This game is gonna be off the hook! Im excited for this heated rivalry. Tomorrow is out time to shine, give UIC all they deserve. Nothing good EVER came out of UIC.
U.S. Cellular is gonna be nuts, there's about 3000 more tickets left, most of which will be walk-ups tomorrow at 7. We will come close to a sell out, and 10,000 Panther fans screaming their heads off is gonna be a sight to see. Remember to bring your dancing shoes!

It'd be nice if like 620 wtmj would let people know tomorrow that there's plenty of tix available. People won't walk-up if they think they can't get a ticket and seeing empty corners all the way around would really make me mad.

I am way too pumped for tomorrow's game...I don't know how I will get to sleep tonight.
Klotsche Krazies, I cannot stress enough the fact that we all need to be there 1 hour early, and laying it on UIC. It is our homecourt and we must defend it!
Less than 24hrs until tip off! GET ROWDY!

Hello everyone I am new to this board. I am a former student that attended UWM for 2 years before transferring. Though I am not at the school anymore, I grew up in Milwaukee and I'm just as excited for the game tonight as anyone in here and hope for back2back NCAA tourney berths. Go UWM.

Most places seem to have UWM as a 2.5 point favorite........but CBS sportsline (Mejia) has us a 3 point underdog.
Should be an epic battle!

I think that Kadima and Joah Tucker will decide this game. If Joah can stay out of foul trouble and get his 15, and kadima gets off the schnide and is a good compliment to Hill (let's say 8pts, 3 asst, no TO's), that we win this game. Banks and Williams will get their points, and Page and Ed will get theirs too. Tucker outperform Baily or we lose. Any comments?

There are so many thing/variables that will go into winning this game.......
1. IMO McCants needs to shoot the ball well, especially early. 2. We cannot let Banks get going early with good looks - which will help his confidence. 3. We cannot let Banks have a career game or we will be in trouble. 4. Somehow, something needs to rattle Martell early in the game. If he is playing well and running the show with a clear head, UIC is very dangerous. 5. We need to rebound the ball. Armond is a force, but I think that DP, AT, and JT will be banging with him all night. 6. Page and Banks will likely get theirs.......this game will come down to how well the other play, namely McCants, Tucker, and Hill/Kadima for UWM and Bailey and Armond for UIC. If either teams gets someone else to step up (bench type player), that will be a huge boost.
Now, with all that being said, the only certain is that whoever wins more points will be dancin......... ;D
I think an electric atmosphere will help out a lot. I am guessing that the first few minutes (till the first TV timeout) will be very sloppy since both teams will have more adreneline and emotion than they know what to do with. I do not expect either team to come out and do what we did to Butler last year.

I agree...rebounding is the key to this game. UIC only had a 40% FG percentage wehn we played them in Chicago, but they beat us cause we couldn't rebound. Rebounds and Free Throws are key!
GO UWM, Bring Us Back To The Dance!!!

I really think we need to come out fast. Too many times this year we've started sluggishly only to battle back... the place is gonna have so much electricity running through it that any chance of revving it up early and making a statement is huge. UIC can be taken out of their game on the road. Rattling them early could go a long way to getting a Panther win.
BTW - looks like another 1,000 tickets have been sold already this morning... only about 2,000 remain from what I've heard. We're closing in on the first Cell sellout!
