Some people on the board seem to think that the Manhattan game won't have a positive effect on our RPI. Here are some stats from College RPI that would seem to show otherwise.
Previous to the Bracket Buster game announcement our Projected Season End RPI was #44. After the announcement it jumped to #36 with a strength of schedule ranking of #110. That is only 8 places, but that could well be the difference in at-large territory.
It also projects Manhattan's Season End RPI #50. Now assuming victories is always a bad thing, but all we Panther fans (and all Mid-Majors) have wanted is a chance to play a good team at home. Here it is!
As it is we are... 0-2 against the Top 25 RPI 0-1 against 26-50 and 0-1 against 51-100
We need a marquee win!
Our remaining games are: @ Illinois-Chicago (160 RPI) Wright State (149 RPI) Loyola-Chicago (203 RPI) @ Youngstown State (236 RPI) @ Butler (200 RPI) Manhattan (61 RPI) @ Cleveland State (289 RPI)
You can talk about matchups all you want. And maybe there were 'better' opponents, but it is a HUGE opportunity.
Go Panthers!

Good post PantherPhil........you are right, this is a good draw in terms of RPI and SOS. It very well could be the difference between an At-Large bid and an NIT bid. But, seeing as we are going to win the conference tournament, it is a mute point. haha

Yeah, I don't know how anyone can say that Manhattan isn't a good game for UWM. The Panthers' "best" win is over Detroit, with an "outstanding" RPI of 103 or something around there. Plus, going to Manhattan next year to return the home-and-home might make an excellent road trip Too bad Hawaii isn't coming here. That would be another good road trip.

I don't know how often, if at all, any of you have been to New York, but let me tell you, it would make for a GREAT road trip. I say we make an event out of it!

lol, I do agree. I've been to New York, and always wanted to go back. Going to Manhattan would be an excellent trip and if we could get a big turn out, would definatly look positive on our school. Oh...fyi... I don't know how many of you saw this, but on jsonline.com under the story about Marquette's loss last night there is a discussion board link for Marquette. There are a lot of people posting there on how great UWM is and how we are the best Divison 1-A team in Milwaukee. www.jsonline.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=709&catID=9&sessionID={1511C172-0150-4B27-8AA3-85EA4F8AA0A5}
