UW-Milwaukee, at 9-0, is now officially the team to beat in the Horizon League and UW-Green Bay, at 7-2, along with Wright State, is in the best position to catch the Panthers.
But a subplot to the game tonight that bears watching is the animosity between the coaching staffs of UWM and UWGB.
In the teams' first meeting two weeks ago, angry words were exchanged between the two benches - specifically between Green Bay head coach Tod Kowalczyk and UWM assistant Tony Jones - both during the game and in the lobby after the game.

Not even in his wildest dreams did Bruce Pearl envision his UW-Milwaukee basketball team being in its current position of power.
But there are the Panthers, 9-0 in the Horizon League with just seven games to go and two victories ahead of their nearest pursuers, UW-Green Bay and Wright State.
What is even more delightful for UWM backers is that both those teams must pay visits to the U.S. Cellular Arena, a place where UWM has lost just once in five outings this season.
