UWM used a strong surge out of the blocks in the second half to pull away from UW-Green Bay, claiming an 82-70 win in a battle among state rivals for first place in the Horizon League. The Panthers actually grabbed a 21-10 lead early but Green Bay rallied for the lead late in the first half and only trailed by one at halftime. But UWM quickly restored its lead to double digits early in the second half and never let the Phoenix get closer than eight points the rest of the way. Joah Tucker scored 20 points to lead the Panthers.

SETTING THE SCENE: Cleveland State (4-13, 0-6) continues its three-game Horizon League homestand when it hosts Horizon League front-runner UW-Milwaukee (11-5, 6-0) on Thursday, Jan. 22 beginning at 7:30 p.m. EST. The game is part of a doubleheader with the CSU women hosting Loyola beginning at 5 p.m. The Vikings have lost 11 straight games since opening the year with a 4-2 mark but hold an 11-8 edge in the all-time series with the Panthers. The game is third in a four-game in eight-day stretch for CSU with the remaining game coming at home on Saturday vs. Youngstown State.

They have won their six league contests by an average of 10.7 points a game with no game coming closer than six points. They are coming off an 82-70 win at UW-Green Bay on Saturday, giving the Phoenix their only league loss to date. All-everything forward Dylan Page, the front-runner for league player of the year honors, is leading the loop with a 20.9 scoring average. Guard Ed McCants, a transfer from Paris JC, is averaging 18.0 points, while forward Joah Tucker is adding 13.0 points a game and leading the league in field goal percentage (.547).
