It would be great to have any of these teams for a home game.
Strange how the structure of the Bracket Buster works, at least for us. Because we were one of the Road Teams last year, we get the return game from that team as a home game this year. But this year we are a Home Team, so next year we must go on the road for the return game. If we continue the same way, we will be a Road Team next year, and so on.
So..... each alternating year we will have either two home games or two road games because of the Bracket Buster. It would be nice if they could equalize this at some point, so we have one home and one road game each year.
Did I explain that well enough? What does everybody else think?
Go Panthers!

I agree, it will be interesting to see how the home/road scheduling plays out. It is hard to believe with as much as we have been on the road this year that we have the "home" portion of the agreement this year. haha

I think ESPN's Mid Major poll is pretty accurate right now...We're not quite ready to play with those schools yet. But by Bracket Buster we'll be ready to knock out any one of those schools. Then finally we'll get one marquee win!
Pretty cool website though...we're getting close to March Madness.

Gotta love how the Mid Major Poll still has last week's "also receiving votes". Someone got lazy.

Some times I get the feeling ESPN doesnt really take the Mid Major poll to seriously...!

I agree there....but can you blame them? I think that it will be a lot better after fotoball is over. Thats when the casual fan gets interested in bball again....

Are the picks for Braket Buster going to be chosen live on ESPN? I thought I heard somewhere that they were...but Feb. 1st is the Super Bowl!! I cant imagine there being a break in coverage to show Braket Buster picks.

Welcome to the board Kristin, the picks for the Bracketbuster are not on ESPN. I would assume that they should be on the website by 2 or so.

Bad news, Panther fans. Our chance at one of the 5 National TV ESPN/ESPN2 games just decreased. From ESPN.com Zags can't get out of Tulsa game Monday, Jan. 19: The Bracket Buster switch is dead. Gonzaga will play at Tulsa on Feb. 21, instead of hosting Creighton in what could have been a matchup between the only ranked teams in the event. Tulsa athletic director Judy MacLeod told ESPN.com Monday that the Golden Hurricane looked at the possibility of switching games, but it wasn't financially feasible. "We already have a home-and-home contract with Gonzaga and we moved that into the Bracket Buster," MacLeod said of the only pre-arranged game in the event. The rest of the matchups between mid-major schools will be announced Feb. 1. "We only have 100 tickets left. We have advertised it as our biggest non-conference game and sold a mini-pack with it in there. We took a long, hard look at it and we couldn't do it. Our fans would be upset if we said we're not playing a top 20 team." The plan was for Gonzaga to go to Tulsa in 2004-05, but for this event Tulsa would host another team in the event. The marquee game on Feb. 21 will likely be Creighton at Western Michigan (ESPN). The Broncos moved to being a home team, while Evansville is now a road team. Now that sux a big one, if u ask me! I believe that in order to even out the RPI's of the home and away teams, Western Michigan, w/a really high RPI, was switched w/a low RPI home team-Evansville. Western Michigan currently has an RPI of 40, which is 33 ahead of us. That puts us down to the 5 spot among home teams- the last of the home teams to get a national game if you're going just by RPI rank. The Green Bay game this Sat night is a MUST WIN now if we want any shot at a nationally televised ESPN game! Just thought I'd pass that along. I found one more link just to corraborate this, it's down at the bottom: www.wmubroncos.com/sports/basketball/men/-Jason

I cant imagine there being a break in coverage to show Braket Buster picks. No word on the Bracket Buster yet. I'm thinking it's going to be either Manhattan, Creighton, Hawaii or Charleston. Here's hoping for Creighton or Manhattan (and not Western Michigan ... I would like to see UWM play a team it hasn't faced before, not another MAC team).

Got this from the Fresno State Web site:
"ESPN News will telecast the pairings for the Bracket Buster between 3:15-4 p.m. CST on Monday. Only the 10 nationally televised pairings will be announced, although ESPN News' ticker will show all the pairings throughout the evening." -------------------
Looks like we have a few more hours of waiting.
