Madison - The University of Wisconsin posted its 11th straight victory over UW-Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon at the Kohl Center, an 89-71 triumph that left the Badgers with so many things to feel good about.
Led by Mike Wilkinson's 18 points, a season-high five players scored in double figures. The bench dominated. And the Badgers turned the ball over just nine times after giving it away an average of 16 times in the previous two meetings between the teams.
Still something was missing.
It was the sigh of relief.
Sparked by a relentless press, UWM made furious second-half comebacks against the Badgers the past two seasons that nearly yielded Panthers victories. On Saturday, the Panthers (4-3) were no match for a stronger, more experienced and - most important - deeper version of the Wisconsin Badgers (6-1).
