Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... ;D How do Air Force fans put up with such boring basketball?
We proved that we have not lost a step since last year...we're even better! Our half court D has really stepped up. We can slow things down and score if needed.
Waters and Douglas were at the game. Waters is a BEAST! Cant wait to see them next year on the court. Things only get better... ;D
Huge win for the program. Great day to be a panther fan...
Go Milwaukee! -UWMfreak

Bad offense combined with horrible officiating leads to the most boring game UWM (3-0) will play all season. In a game played close to the vest thanks to Bennett-ball via Air Force (4-2) the Panthers were almost always in control of this game even when the Cougars went on a 10-0 run to take a 36-35 lead with less than 6 minutes remaining in the game the fans in attendance and the team on the court didn't seem to doubt a win was in the fold. To the Panthers credit they didn't give in to frustration of seemingly playing 5 on 8 all night long. Steady and patient, willing to work for scoring opportunities UWM showed it could win an ugly slow it down, grind to a halt game where the most important factor was who was more physical and mentally strong. Even without the services of Juco transfer Derrick Ford to man the post due to foultrouble, UWM was dominant down low thanks to the emergence of an aggressive Joah Tucker bent on getting to the hoop no matter what in crunch time. Not to be overlooked was the usual showing of unbelievable jumpers from Ed McCants ripping the cords to turn the tide. When it turned for the last time in the final 5 minutes on an Ed McCants step-back 15-foot jumper to regain a 37-36 lead the Panthers finally picked up the pace and forced the Cougars into crucial turnovers and missed shots . On the other end Joah stepped up and demoralized the Cougars by getting into the paint and knocking down tough looks with ease. In the end UWM pounced on the Air Force Academy 50-45 returning the favor of a road loss owed from last season in Colorado Springs.

Boo may continue to start, but I want C. Hill in during crunch time and at the end of the game. A good win when you can beat another team at their game, and AF is one of the best at doing what they do no matter how boring it is. Way to step it up Joah.
Life is good. The Panthers are undefeated and I am sportin' a brand new "Bruce is My Homeboy" shirt.
Seen in the stands - BP's kid wearing his "Homeboy" shirt and Darron Sutton checking out the Panthers.

I feel bad for AF fans as well. God its boring. Joah stepped up huge tonight. Got kind of scared when Ed got hurt, but he looked good the rest of the game. Did Sanders get poked in the eye or did he have a bloody nose? They played a great game tonight and beat a very tough team. Ford had a bad game, not that he was in there much. Tigert had a great night, and James Wright was not only a spark, but he also had a great game. This sounds weird, but I felt more confident with Wright in there than Ford. 3-0!!!!!!!!!!!

One other thing, the fan attendance was very good. Disappointed in the student section turnout.

Did Sanders get poked in the eye or did he have a bloody nose? I think he just got scratched and there was some blood, so they had to clean it up. What a great game!!!! Ford only had 10 min's due to foul trouble w/ 0 points, yet we still managed to beat IMHO the best defensive team in the nation. This might be the best regular season home win for our program in the 6 years we've been good. As far as attendance, I figured student turnout wouldn't be as great as the last two games due to not everyone being back from Thanksgiving break yet, but also that general fan attendance should be almost twice that of the previous games. I can't say that I was dissappointed. There was a ton less empty seats than usual. I'd say better than the SIU game last year. Missing at least 500 students, though, made the difference in the final attendance figure. It was 4120, slightly less than last years SIU attendance I believe. All in all, great game, hella loud fans- especially the students section for its size- and a great win for the team. Can't wait to see (in person!) us beat Valpo and the BADgers, and maybe even KANSAS Fight, fight, for UWM! -Jason

Even though I was disapointed at the stundent turnout...I must say, the ones that were there did a hell of a job of cheering. We screamed our lungs out. Basically, the end of the game comes down to if Tucker makes those shots or not. He took over, and he let his teammates know that he did. That a boy, Joah, and keep shooting as much as you want...he knows how to find the hole.

Yea, it figured that the student section would be disappointing.Thanksgiving break, combined with a sunday game doesnt make for good turnout. It was a boring game to say the least, but the defense was great.

wow wow wow.
This is how college basketball should be played. close. exciting, and based off defense.
First i would like to give props to myself for winning the chicken in the basket competition.
Even though we won against a great team i still feel like we could of played better.
Tucker - Break out night, gave us the spark and skills to keep us in the lead. Big concers though.... He needs to be more consistent at the free throw line. The man can drive the ball through 3 players make the awkward shot, but he cant make the easy shot from the line.
Boo/Hill - Boo was pretty much himself, in the same cylce of running and gunning with out results. I dont know if Boo plaid less minutes than later (do to his force full style) but i believe that Hill played most of the minutes bc he is faster and we needed someone like hill to run with freakin awesome screen patters air force was running in the back court.
Wright - i never give this guy enough credit, but on defense he is always there to make the clean rebound.
Speaking of rebounds - there was too many offensive rebounds made by Air Force. Not good at all. Very scary when a team take 3 shots draining each clock then making the 3rd shot. Its like they were practing.
MAJOR REBOUND CONCERNS - Too many times i saw our guys fighting against each other for rebounds. Not good for two reasons 1. It leads to offensive rebounds 2. More importantly it could lead to an accidental injury from our own players. I really really really really hope bruce talks about this. If not i will confront him tomarrow at the Gasthuas.
McCants - Hes not getting enough shots in. he is suppose to be the HL POY. Even though he hit some clutch jumpers, i hope we come up with some more creative play schemes. He was not that heavily guarded tonight but he needs to take more shots.
Setting up plays - I do not know how you guys feel about this but i felt like there was hesistation to set up or plays. We do not run alot of different offensive plays in a game and i saw alot of hesitation. I think much of this was due to the fact that we did not have a our transition offense runing as much as we usually do.
Fan Attendance. As usual it was down, however it was great to see a good alumni turn out. To the students that did show up, i think we all did a good job of getting in the head of the air ball twins and number 45. Even if students are not in full force at least we know we as a smaller group can mess some stuff up.
Im not sure what was up with the refs, but usually the refs are more lient to the home team. Does anybody feel our hostile crowd is getting the refs, even though it shouldnt, there were way too many fouls called on UWM and not enough called against air force. Not cool. those refs need to pop some viagra, do their wives and get in a better mood.
What else can i say. OOOOOOOOO i know WE WON!
Ford - even though he fouled out, i believe that he did a very good job of playing d.
McCoy - I gave him the defensive play of the game when knocked away the 3 point shot. That helped. And i love his little Making the T with his arms celebration. Does anyone think he will get called on that, excessive celebration or something.
Thats it for now. see you guys tomarrow. hopefully someone reads this cuz there is a lot of things this team needs to work on.

Superb win and start to the season. I'd say that attendance was good, considering the circumstances. Would've been a lot worse had the Packers been playing on Sunday too. Hope to see everyone at the Pav. for another important win this Saturday!
Peace.

what a win! i don't know if i'd call that game boring though. sometimes a great defensive effort is as good as a high scoring affair. i can't say enough good things about how well we played defensively. to beat a team like air force at its own game is something to be very proud of. not only that, but to know we can grind one out without our big man in the game, and with a couple key guys having off nights is huge. even though i thought we were hesitant on the offensive game, i was very encouraged by the scoring in the paint. finally joah got back to his game... posting up down low and dominating. even though he has a better perimeter game now, i want to see more of what he did sunday all year long. joah has the ability to really blossom if he wants to. as for the attendance, while i hoped to see more people i was very happy with the effort and enthusiasm everyone brought. it sounded like a lot more than 4,000-plus in that building. kudos to the alumns for turning out in better numbers. i thought we'd see more students but the ones that were there were on their game. hopefully you guys will work to get the rest of them out as the season progresses. it's too good to miss! ;D hope to see the panthers take care of business on wednesday and head into the big matchup saturday undefeated. great day to be a panther fan!

I agree with the great defense but our Rebounding needs a lot of improvement, we gave them way too many second and third chances. Joah was the key to that game steping it up when we needed it most. We fell behind by 1 and Joah stepped it up. I seriously couldn't stand #45 and his flopping act. The game was not called to our favor but we still pulled off the win. That shows character in a team, in past years I think we would have been talking about a loss with the bad calls we got. Our guys stepped it up and got the W, I just think we need to work on the rebounding. We won't be able to give Kansas or Wisconsin as many chances as we gave Air Force.

i'm not sure what to make of the rebounding. it was frustrating. but at the same time, they were forcing AF into difficult long range 3's on a regular basis and that always leads to long rebounds and usually a chance to reload. i don't know how many times we had 3 or 4 guys poised to get the ball only to have it go over their heads. there were some occasions where there were more than one panther going for a ball only to have neither player come away with it. again, it's hard to fault a team for being overly aggressive like that. they'll iron that stuff out as the season progresses... i hope.
the thing that impressed me most is they stayed composed when things weren't looking so good. in years past this would have likely gone in the loss column. that's what they'll have to do to steal one of the big road matchups.
