Getting back to your original point about the fee. Two things should be noted: 1) The fee comes from students but not many students attend the games 2) The SA is elected from the student body. Any group of students can put together a campaign and run for office. Also Jimmy I don't think we're paying 500k a year for the Cell. That would mean we're putting out 31,000 a game in rent. I believe the original agreement (which has probably changed by now() was something like $2,500 a game. Sport Jimmy is right with the price. The games do cost about $30,000 to have at the Cell. That's why getting people to come and support is so important. Basketball is hemorraging financially to give a good product, and keep up with HL standards.

This just makes my stomach turn, and has for some time now. UWM really does need to find a better alternative for the price.

Build an athletics complex in the Valley for Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, and Track.
$500,000 per year spent there in upkeep is a better investment.
Highly accessible area, with development opportunity, between the "east" and "west" campi, and an area soon to be a tourist destination (Harley and the Casino).
furthermore, the infrastructure in already in place for traffic and room for parking.
Zoning issues can be overcome.
The only issue would be potential brown field clean up, but that could be funded with Federal money (I just threw up in my mouth a little).
That corridor could be a fantastic addition to Milwaukee. Think of the aerial views during Brewer games showing the Panthers home on National TV!

That kind of price is crazy. I know Bud was pushing to add a 7,000 seat venue when the Pavilion was built, they should've listened.

Someone should ask the SA how much money they have in reserves and what they plan to spend it on. I remember it being quite a bit.

I'm no math-a-magician, but if we were to assume everyone payed the minimum ticket price of $10 x 3700... That's $37000 a game. we still make a profit, plus we must make something from the concessions. No?
How are we hemorrhaging financially?

Cause it costs more than just 500k a season to run the show...you have to pay everyone in the athletic department, marketing, material, office stuff, the whole works...not to mention that there are 14 other sports.

Right, but that's not all Basketball, and there is a yearly budget.

Right, but that's not all Basketball, and there is a yearly budget. Yes, but the entire AD runs off basketball...those are all "non-revenue" sports.

And there is more than the cell rental to consider. The Men's program also has to pay for the coaches, the schollies, equipment, transportation, guarantees to the non-cons who come here and other stuff as well.
