This past weekend, the Panthers signed Tyrone Young, the 6-foot-4 combo guard from Kansas City by way of Vincennes University in Indiana and one other player who could not be revealed. Tyrone was the 2002-03 Missouri state player of the year and is the 13th ranked junior college player in the country according to hoopscooponline.com

anyone else find it odd how this other player couldn't be revealed? like its a secret or something? its still impressive though that he's signed 3 guys in about 4 days.

Was it announced last night that we signed him or is there a link somewhere stating this? I could not make it last night so I assume this information was announced at the get together.

Mason's interest was in some pretty big-name schools (Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Missou, Ok St, and Ohio St) if I remember correctly. Not sure he'd go the UWM route.

Just wanted to clarify that the news of Tyrone's signing was learned in confidence from a source close to the program by connecting the dots. One, this player was on campus this past weekend and two, he was also drawing interest from Texas A&M and Oklahoma St., among others. The information available on rivals.com matches the information I was given. I'm sorry I can't shed more light on the second player (our third recruit in this class), but I couldn't find a bio that fits this player's description. However, I can tell you that he's an athletic 6-6 or 6-7 wing player who previously played with Kevin Massiah.

I'm not understand on how just b/c Young visited campus and that he's drawing interest from other teams means he's now signed w/ us? that doesn't make any sense. wouldn't that mean we should've signed Torre Johnson too since he was recruited by others and he's been to campus? Also is that 3rd recruit you were referring to be Glen Garrant?

Well, Tyrone and this mystery player, who like Kevin is of Canadian heritage, were the only two known players to have visits scheduled this past weekend. In other words, UWM landed both of its targets. Sorry about the confusion.

Might you or your source know when something official will be announced whether through the university or JS?

Knowing who some of the mystery players are that will be visiting campus, this could be an amazing class. In fact, on paper they will have greater rankings and recruitment prestige than Pearl's original class of 2005.
Young is a PG/SG that has the potential to dominate this league. Easily the level of Ed McCants, if not with even more threats.
Jeter can recruit...now let's see if he can coach. ;D
Later, UWMfreak

Told you dylanrocks is the man when it comes to getting the inside information. Last night: awesome event! Great turnout, very classy program. I loved it even more when I walked away with one of those jersey centerpieces!! Next time: Don't give Ed an open microphone!

As for the J-S, they had to know that last night had to have the potential to be a vast reservoir of information. I would say that in this instance, they dropped the ball. To recap for those not fortunate enough to attend, Joah will be back but is recovering from a broken jaw; Ed has been invited to the prestigious Chicago pre-draft camp (and still has a large chip on his shoulder); recruiting is going very well despite the deflating news of last week; and Michael Poll will be back as senior manager. Power to the people!

Is Michael going to replace Jason Schneider, since BP even took the head manger with him to U of T? Not like it matters since Schneider was worthless anyway ;D. J/K Junior!!
