We need a recruit announcement soon. MarkMcMillan needs to tell us we just signed Michael Jordan jr. or I will remain sad and locked in my room.

well, i can see both sides to this argument. i think it's just been a crazy ride with the highs of the Sweet 16 to the immediate lows of losing our coach and recruits. i know we'll be fine but i totally understand people's frustration/concern. panthr30 is right though, it's going to take some time for the more positive news to start coming in.

all of you saying its going to be fine your wishful thinking is clouding your judgement...if Jeter doesnt sign 3 players that can contribute some this year and take over the load the following year I must say we are screwed...we will lose 7 players to graduation whom I am guessing will have nearly 90% of our offensive production...at least the year after the 2003 NCAA tourney team we had Dylan and Brought in Ed and got Joah after his transfer year..be concerned, its looking pretty grave right now....

Out of all the recruits "lost", the one that hurts the most is Childress. He would've been a stud here, but still was at least a year from being a major contributor. Douglas would've been a nice player, but by no means dominant. I'm really not sure that Waters would've ever played anyways, due to academics.
Jeter needs to be given time, maybe go after a couple JUCO kids and take a flier on a freshman. Then, really buckle down and focus on next year.
All will be fine.

Panther 97 just said it all. Remember, guys, we're not the type of program that leans heavily on freshman. For the most part, the players we bring in here will have a few years of experience at the college level already. This year's incoming class will merely need to serve as a bridge between this year's super-senior class and a more conventional class in 2006. Remember also, one of the principal reasons Coach Jeter was brought here is his prowess as a recruiter. After all, he's the one who recruited Dwyane Wade to Marquette and who had Alando Tucker coming to UWM before the staff left for Madison.

Childress released from UWM letter
The Enquirer
Moeller basketball forward Ryan Childress has been granted his release from the national letter of intent he signed with Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Childress is seeking a new school because Bruce Pearl, the former coach at UWM, resigned to become coach at Tennessee. Childress initially affirmed his commitment to new coach Rob Jeter, then changed his mind.
"When Bruce Pearl left, that was a big part of his decision," Moeller coach Carl Kremer said. "He loves the new coach and he still hasn't ruled them out, but he's opened up his recruiting again."
Kremer said Kent State and Richmond are on Childress' list of schools to visit, with more than a dozen schools already offering him a scholarship.
The 6-foot-8 Childress averaged 15.6 points and 8.8 rebounds last season. He was honorable mention all-state and an Enquirer first-teamer. Moeller reached the Division I state Final Four.

We are certainly in a better position than Kent State or Richmond. From here on out I am following my new, self imposed rule on not commenting on a recruit until I actually shake his hand at Midnight Madness. I think I'll call it the PDWC rule for our guys Passley, Douglass, Waters, and Childress.
