Has anybody heard anything lately about Boo Wade coming to UWM. Last I heard he was coming to UWM to go to school and be closer to his younger brother but...would he play basketball...and would we want him?

i wouldnt mind it. everyone at madison would say he cant score worth a dam. but things might be different for him in the HL where the competition isnt as tall and tough.
everyone however does agree that he can handle the ball and that he can play defense.
the other side of this is. is there room for him on the team. already with, hill going into her sr year, and hanson going into his sophomore year. some might say that we have enough point guards. however, id say that al is not a viable option right not to play more than 6 min a game. the addition of another point guard would be awesome. it would give us incredible depth. allow UWM to the run the press tighter and harder.
but then in the end. were not sure about why he left madison, and if there are any residual effects that could effect this team and his game. and were not sure whats going on with him. and if hes even going attend school here and play ball. but i will give him a shot.

Wade gets probation for domestic abuse Ex-UW guard told to get counseling
By MARK STEWART mstewart@journalsentinel.com Posted: March 8, 2005
Madison - It appears the legal troubles facing former University of Wisconsin basketball player Boo Wade were much worse than originally reported.
According to newly filed police reports in Dane County Circuit Court, Wade was accused of domestic abuse both before and after his arrest for battery of his girlfriend in February 2004.
The reports were sent to Judge C. William Foust for review on Monday. Tuesday, he sentenced Wade to 18 months' probation and ordered him to undergo counseling for domestic violence and for drug and alcohol abuse.
The disorderly conduct charge was amended from battery a year ago as part of a plea agreement that called for Wade to enroll in the First Offenders Program. Wade, 20, did not complete the program and thus was sentenced for the crime.
The police reports were a key reason why Foust gave Wade probation rather than let him off with a fine, as Wade's defense had hoped. From November 2003 to March 2004, three other women contacted police claiming domestic abuse against Wade. However, each woman declined to press charges.
Also entered into Wade's court file was a letter from his attorney that tried to explain why Wade did not complete the First Offender Program and why he left the team. In addition to the loss of both of his grandparents within a span of two months, the letter cited the September birth of Wade's daughter.
The letter also said he sought counseling from a doctor to deal with the issues involving his arrest, the death of his grandparents and his daughter's birth. He also underwent counseling for issues related to substance abuse.
The letter went on to say that since withdrawing from Wisconsin, Wade has moved back home to Milwaukee and spends most of his time caring for his daughter. He has applied to Milwaukee Area Technical College, where he hopes to complete his associate's degree, and wants to enroll in a Division II college to complete his bachelor's degree and hopefully play basketball.
When Wade was arrested Feb. 4, 2004, he was immediately suspended from the team, per the university's student-athlete discipline policy. He missed two games before returning.
The other incidents aren't covered by the discipline policy because there were no arrests and no charges were filed.
Wade, a 6-foot-3 guard, played in 62 games for the Badgers as a freshman and sophomore, and was the favorite to start at point guard this season.

Boo's your Daddy!
only room for one Boo at UWM.. Domestic Abuse history of Wade not a good thing for UWM to take on. I saw Minnesota's 97 final four team start disolving (before the academic cheating scandal) when Courtney James got into some domestic abuse trouble in the offseason. It spelled the beginning of the end. They are only starting to recover now. We don't need that kind of attention/ scruitiny for the program.
BEAT BAMA!!!

i dont think he is coming to uwm and im glad. boo has an attitude problem. Ed and Wade are not on the same level. ive said it before, you can only take in so many people with a record. let him go pay his dues, prove the ncaa that he has changed. then well talk. other wise, he can go to UIC oh no i went there. i apologize to any UIC fans who find that offensive.

Wade only has one year of eligibility remaining. He's not even close to worth the risk. Besides, you have C-Hill, Al and a scholarship to give another point guard.

I think he is talking about criminal acts, not basketball skills.
Getting in a fight is one thing. Beating up your girlfriend (repeatedly) is another.

I wouldnt mind Boo Wade coming to UWM...even though he has problems he can play basketball...Just as long as his girlfriend isnt here to beat...UWM needs all the players it can get...plus Wade would play the position that he did with UW when Devin Harris was there not the unnatuarl position he had to play of PG....Chris Hill would have that locked up...Maybe Boo would come with Jeter as coach

UWM needs all the players it can get? Derrick Wimmer is a former third-team all-stater from Dominican who scored 10 points per game as a freshman at Chicago St. and he can't even get on the floor as a sophomore at UWM and we need players? What we need right now is a coach and some direction. Our players are fine.

I like the players we have but to run 94ft of full court press you need a deep bench and we lost some of that with james wright...boo wade is an amazing defender...wimmer may have had a good year at chicago st but i wanna see him produce on the court for UWM...he hasnt shown much yet

how much of an opportunity has Wimmer had on the court? So how can you say he hasnt shown you anything on the court. Wimmer is as talented as anyone on the team off the dribble and on the perimiter...his downfall is defense....

if Jeter is in fact our new coach, i wonder if this increases the chances of Boo Wade possibly coming to UWM?

Short answer - No
Long answer - No, I don't believe it does.
Based on what reportedly (both in print and otherwise) happened at UW, I tend to believe that this would be make Boo less likely to end up playing at UWM.
