I don't know what's more shocking, UW's loss or that announcers ignorant statement. NDSU was 10-9 coming into that game and already had one RPI top 50 win prior to getting their second today. Maybe in the context of how incredibly hard it is to win at the Kohl Center. But I'm willing to bet it wasn't put into that context, considering last time I checked, UW's home court advantage didn't get nearly the recognition it deserves by the national media. Wasn't there just some poll or list that had the top 10 home court advantages in the nation (ESPN.com maybe?) and it didn't even include Madison.

Yes it will hurt our RPI because UW is a common oponent of ours while NDSU is not. Your opponents record counts for 50% of your RPI, while your opponents opponents (that would be NDSU since they played GB, as well as SDSU) record only counts for 25% of your RPI. So it will hurt, but only slightly. How our other opponents do today matter just as much, if not more because their positions (i.e. RPI top 50, top 100) are very important for our resume come Selection Sunday. The difference between St. Louis, Hawaii, Wyoming, and Montana finishing at 101-104 or finishing at 96-99 may not seem like much (and it would only be a one game swing per team), but it would be an enormous difference on our selection resume. I don't see Madison falling out of the RPI top 50 this year, or even the top 25 for that matter. Oh, and there's no year that ANY team not ranked in the top ten losing ANYWHERE to a team with an RPI of 165 is "the worst loss in D1 this season, by far". www.kenpom.com/sked.php?team=North%20Dakota%20St. That might be the worst, most over-blown statement of the year by a college bball announcer though. Well, unless you count anything those UIC webcast "announcers" said. ;D
