Wonder what BP is thinking now. I could see him kicking butt at Cincy.

The minute I heard Nancy Z was going to go to Cincy -I knew huggys days were numbered. He ran a shifty program and skirted the edge of the rules and common sense. His teams played tough d and were full of sketchy characters. Nancy is going to catch a lot of heat for this decision and I hope she can withstand the fire.

I don't know about all of you, but I really respect what Zimpher is doing here. It may cause her to lose her job, but finally a school is putting academics ahead of athletics. It's been a long time coming.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if UC goes after Bruce after the 2005-06 season. He and Zimpher were very close at UWM.

i'm sure anyone who'd be married to Jessica Simpson would have their IQ plummet. it'll be interesting what happens w/ Nancy since she's doing this at a pretty bad time IMO and is risking losing the school money and success.

This is great. I have always thought that Bob Huggins was sketchy at best. Frankly, if Nancy Zimpher thinks he is bad for the university, I am inclined to believe her. She has always struck me as a decent person. I love Nick Lachey's "column". Talk about ridiculous! He sounds like a whiny 6-year old throwing a temper tantrum. Some favorite lines! comment: Um, Nick, do you really understand ANYTHING about college, or college athletics? Oh, I see, you actually don't. Thank God for ESPN, though. It must be tough for you in Stockholm. Oh my GOD! You sir, are an idiot! Sure...there's no problem with a guy carrying a loaded firearm around campus. It happens all the time. Besides, it's OK. He went to Oak Hill Academy. And that other stuff, like Art Long punching a horse, and Donald Little tying up and assaulting his roommate? Happens ALL the time, right Nick? p.s. You spelled "academy" wrong, moron! Exactly! You are right Nick! The Head basketball coach should really be the one running the athletic department, not the AD!! But what's really funny here, is that not only did you spell "notoriety" wrong, you waste of flesh, you obviously have no idea what it means. Here's a hint: it's not a GOOD thing to have. I believe the Webster's definition is "the state of being known for some unfavorable act or quality" Nick Lachey, you are a dumb ass. Just stop Nick. You have managed to make people think you are even less intelligent that we already did, and believe me, I didn't think that was possible. You are truly a complete and utter moron. You aren't an alum yourself, are you Nick? I would be willing to bet you haven't completed a semester of college. Shame on the Cincinnati Enquirer for allowing this ridiculous "column" to run in their paper. This guy is beyond stupid.

A poster on another board I frequent intertwined his comments (in bold) into the column. I'll post in two parts:
Welcome to the Ohio Valley Conference.
So sorry, Dr. Zimpher. I know you expected an invitation to the Ivy League, but I have sad news for you: The Ivy League has never handed out invites? it’s not going to happen. Welcome to the Ohio Valley Conference University of Cincinnati! well on the bright side at least the Bearcats will win the automatic bid every year as the only school in the conference That’s exactly what we’ve positioned ourselves for now. just wait til you hear the position your father-in-law has in mind for your wife
If commissioner Mike Tranghese kicks us straight out of the Big East, I would completely understand. Tranghese shows up in spell check as Trenches
If Conference USA doesn’t take us back, I couldn’t blame them. What? The Ivy League won’t accept us? hey douchebag you already alluded to the fact the Ivy League won't accept you which of coures they won't since they never invite anybody But we’re a great American academic institution!
OK, I guess we’ll join the OVC. QVC has nice deals After all, shouldn’t the Ohio Valley Conference be represented by someone in the Ohio Valley? I bet the copy editor added this bit of geographical info
American sports information is hard to come by in Stockholm, Sweden. subliminal reminder that I'm much better and richer than you I’m here recording tracks for my new album. which you will soon find in the cutout bin at Eckerd next to The Best Of Wilson Phillips Thank God for ESPN.com, my faithful homepage. bullsh*t your faithful homepage is jessicasimpson.com, which is far more faithful than her Just when I think the insanity in Cincinnati is reserved for the Red’s front office who is Red and why does he have his office in the front, Dr. Zimpher goes and proves me wrong. just like that time Jessica was told chicken is not in chicken of the sea
I ask again, what is happening at the University of Cincinnati? Jesus f**kin Christ we know: You have no idea what is happening at UofC Is the city so paralyzed that they think they can get away with this? they = plural it = singular the city is singular you stupid ass f**k
This is one of the most successful coaches in all of NCAA college basketball, right there in our own little town. I was born in a little town, gonna die in a little town thats probably where they'll bury my talentless ass He has led our Bearcat program yours?back from the dead who is he Wes Craven, to the tune of 14 straight NCAA Tournament appearances. another tune you can't carry He was just voted Conference USA Coach of the Decade. yes because it's tough to edge out the likes of Bill Herrion He just led our entire athletic department to a major national athletic conference.but not the Ivy League right?
Do we reward him, extend his contract, give him a bonus for a job well done? No. The rich b****ing the rich should receive a raise, helluva way to appeal to Joe Lunchpail We kindly, or not so kindly, ask him to leave all he’s accomplished as well wait now you're asking him to leave as those he’s accomplished it with, and accept our generous parting gift. A buyout with a healthy dose of Cobra health insurance. Are you kidding me? This is an outrage. I agree. People have to pay for health insurance?
The speculation that this could happen was enough to give me ulcers I mean wouldn't you be sick over the idea that your wife was f**king your father-in-law?, but this is ridiculous. Oh wait this is about Coach I counted on the sensibility and rationale of people in power to avoid this end, and to write those 15 words but I guess I was foolish in my faith. stupid faith didn't stop Jessica from f**king Bam Apparently, Dr. Zimpher has distributed the Kool-Aid to others. mmmm Kool Aid

What are the grounds for his dismissal? Guess you don't read the paper you write for. I’ve seen the University try and blame everything on Huggins’dissatisfaction for his contract situation. Well, of course he was dissatisfied. Have you ever tried to recruit a high school All-American with two years left on your contract? No asshole, have you ever tried to record an album in Sweden?
Who in their right mind would come play for you for four years if they weren’t assured that you were going to be their coach for their junior and senior years? four years? you're a douchebag. what truly talented ballplayer in his right mind would go to cincinnati without a stop at a JUCO?
In addition, what bearing does the basketball program have on the rest of the university’s academics? Given the 0.0 GPA of the hoopsters, you'd better hope none Does Bob Huggins prevent the physics department from winning the Nobel Prize, or someone in the English Department from winning the Pulitzer? No! I do not know what these awards are for! He does his job and everyone else at the university should do theirs. Easy to say I haven't had a job since I cleaned the pool one day at Daddy's country club in 1987. It was hot so I quit.
What else can we pin on him? Pin the tail on Huggy A DUI? This happened over a year ago yes and the seriousness of a crime lessens over time that's why nobody thinks of OJ as a killer you f***ing idiot and has been met by Huggins with shame and humility. And hundreds of 12-packs If you were going to fire him for this, why not do it a year ago, before he led your university to yet another NCAA Tournament? And another early exit Why wait for over a year? Note: Saying the same thing over and over again makes it sound as if you're trying to write a five-page book report on a book you didn't read. What are you doing, trying to write a book report on a book you didn't read? If it’s about the DUI, I suggest we offer George W. Bush a buyout as well! Yes! The President can be bought out? The Roy Bright thing? Give me a break. Ask any coach if they would recruit a four-year player out of Oak Hill Acadamy and the answer would be yes. I had poison oak once
The bottom line is, this is ludicrious! damn straight We should be ashamed of ourselves for publishing this dreck as fans of the Bearcats oh yeah that too and the university as a whole if we lay down like I do because I'm submissive and my wife is more famous than me and let this slide. Hmm maybe I should cover that Goo Goo Dolls song on my album nobody's going to buy
Bob Goin, shame on you! How could you sign your name to this letter? Better question: How could you sign your name to this letter? Bob Huggins made your job a dream. Really? He got to play with your wife's funbags? He helped to lead your entire athletic department to national noterioty. Clearly the basketball players aren't the only dumb f***s at UC
Andy Kennedy, shame on you if you take the interim job, same for Keith LeGree. again I can say this because I've never worked a day in my life Where is your loyalty to the man who gave you your opportunity Jessica why do you smell like your dad and insight into this great game of college basketball? Would you proudly take over the job made available by the unjust firing of your mentor? Make sure to tune into MTV in the fall of 2007 for Newly Divorced
Lastly, shame on the alumni of the University of Cincinnati, of which most of my family are included. is, you gramatically challenged ass To go on and act as if nothing has happened here is to support the decision made by Dr. Zimpher. We all empower her to make the decisions we see here. Can we blame her for this drivel then?
I challenge you all to oppose this with the most influential means possible - your wallets. Mine is much bigger than yours As a die-hard Bearcat fan this pains me to say, but we have to make our voices and influence known. Nobody ever listens to me but my wallet is much bigger than yours This is not for the good of the UC Bearcat basketball program, or for the good of the University of Cincinnati for that matter. More repetition, this feels like the end of the five-page book report about the book you didn't read This is about egos, and that is unacceptable. Hence ends the bazillion word rant I authored because I have a ginormious ego
Nick Lachey, former member of 98 Degrees in other words his career is more in the sh*tter than John Oates' career and co-star of “Newlyweds” with wife Jessica Simpson contacted the Enquirer through a representative Tuesday My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious. and wanted to have his voice heard. and we're all starry-eyed gazing at Jessica's Daisy Dukes so we said ok. Buy Chiquita bananas!

The buyout of Bob Huggins is already having an effect on the Bearcats recruiting. Jason Bennett, a 7-footer considered a top-10 center prospect, was going to attend UC because of Huggins. Those plans, however, have changed.
"They now have no interest in Cincinnati," Bennett's high school coach Rex Morgan told the Cincinnati Enquirer of Bennett and his family. "He was going there because of Huggins. Now, with the way Cincinnati handled everything, I hope no one goes there."
Even O.J. Mayo, considered the top junior prospect in all of high school basketball, said the move hurt the Bearcats' chances.
"I'll still consider them on the top five of my list," Mayo told the paper. "But it would make it a little more difficult for me to choose UC, because you'd have a new coach and new relationship, whereas me and Coach Huggins have had a relationship since seventh grade."
