We now have, what, nearly 60 years as the Panthers? Over the last 30-plus years, that identity has worked very well for us. We are the Panthers!!!! I agree. We have to keep the Panthers. I have our current logo tattooed on my right shoulder. At the very least, I hope we keep Pounce Panther lol. The branding has always been an issue, but the push to be known as “Milwaukee Panthers” vs UWM has been relatively successful. Being on ESPN as Milwaukee is nice. I’m with y’all that a full University of Milwaukee rebrand would be the direction I would be happy with. People that haven’t been around the program as much as us still ask me questions like “how’s UWMs team this year?” And it drives me up the wall.

For the record, I agree with DTP on about 95% of his posts, but here's evidence that we're not the same guy posting under two accounts!

I think you all are reading far too much into this.
That link and the explanations indicate they're talking about a re-brand at the overall university level, not athletics. Given the overall standing in the university for the athletic program, I doubt much consideration would be given to changing much about it, including our mascot. My guess is you'll likely only see color changes to reflect the new university color schemes, and potentially typeface font on the uniforms.
And there are universities everywhere that have mascots that don't reflect what wild animals live in the area. One only has to look at our conference champion in men's hoops for another prime example.

The person I spoke with said the colors haven’t changed, from what they’ve seen. They also said the logo is “a similar style” to the current logo. Not saying this is definitive but they’ve never led me astray before. We’re most likely blowing this out of proportion.
The logo definitely needs a complete revamp though IMO. It’s old.

To be fair, the last alteration was around 2006-7ish, when they made the panther black-yellow-grey, and took the purple out.

But I have to say, I always liked the Green Gulls nickname because it's so non-generic.

Gulls just don't sound intimidating. Plus, why green specifically? Are they sick? Did they become toxic after taking a dip in the river?

Change our name to "The University of Milwaukee" and Cream/Black colors. Some solutions are just too easy but Im sure we'll get this wrong.

Just because we have the same opinions on a lot of things, and (I think) the same first name, I’d like to think there is speculation that we are one and the same.

Gulls just don't sound intimidating. Other than absolutely no one, who is ever intimidated by a team's nickname?
