I hear and read that this guy is an offensive machine!

Gotta love the good basketball names, MJ and Stackhouse, all rolled into one player! Given the recent general focus of this message board, my question is whether MJ can play good defense, and if he will want to. Listen to him on this podcast from three weeks ago. 15+ minutes with dozens of references to offense, but not one mention of individual or team defense. youtube.com/watch?v=IlblGyZqcSk&si=2TLItBJjT5Q9G8nlPlease understand I'm not pointing this out as a criticism of the young man. I'm expressing curiosity about our current recruiting philosophy. Every team needs scorers, but hopefully the next class includes some tough-nosed defenders, rebounders, gamers, etc.

Welcome to the team MJ. People wanted Lundy to grab local talent, and he is achieving that. Looking forward to watching him grow his game as a Panther.

Would definitely not consider him a great offensive player to say the least.

Would definitely not consider him a great offensive player to say the least. You mean "defensive" player, right?

Would definitely not consider him a great offensive player to say the least. Huh??? I assume you’ve seen him play. He just scored 38 points 2 days ago against Racine Park. What makes you think he’s not a great offensive player? Genuinely curious.

What makes you think he’s not a great offensive player? Genuinely curious. Reports from a very reliable source are that he's a dynamic offensive player.

If you are trying to use highschool stats as way to prove it this discussion won’t go very far. He was an energy big who didn’t really show any offensive flashes while playing for phenom the past 2 years.

But he’s in high school. How can you overlook actual stats/data and just come to the conclusion that he’s not a great offensive player? Is it a matter of semantics? Is he a “good” offensive player? Or an “above average” offensive player?
Not saying he’s going to be the next BJ. But for the time being, I’m going to have to assume that a guy averaging 26 ppg this season has the ability to become one of our better offensive weapons. And 14 rebounds per game is also promising.

That 3 points and 2 rebounds per game in EYBL really stand out from this past summer too. Very raw handle, not a shooter, decent up/down athlete but wouldn’t consider him to be twitchy or quick side to side. He’s a good high school player that can dominate the WIAA due to his size and athleticism like most guys can but I don’t think he has the skill the play a wing or the size to really play down low.

My only gauge when it comes to commitments is the list of offers from other programs. Admittedly, that doesn't always mean much either (e.g. PBJ vs Dylan Page).

My only gauge when it comes to commitments is the list of offers from other programs. Admittedly, that doesn't always mean much either (e.g. PBJ vs Dylan Page). It also increasingly means less as players field dozens of "offers" that are not real offers. A lot of the time the services are relying on the word of the player or family/friends. I remember a few years ago PBS had offers out for like 25 guys in one class.
