Come to think of it, I do remember a “winter storm” that cancelled school at UWM for the afternoon in December 2010, I think. At about noon, people were going through the Union telling us that school had been cancelled. Lo and behold, our email confirmed that they were closing the campus in an hour or two. It was about noon that day, so the school was pretty busy, and for those of us (like me) who was depending on being picked up from school later that evening didn’t really know what to do. I don’t think any snow stuck on the ground until that evening, and even then, it was very minor.
So maybe this is a university-wise poor planning issue.

I'm just waiting for us to get run off the court in the empty arena with the Bart Lundy follow up presser talking about "it woulda been nice if we could have moved the game to the K Center to get some students there since it's on campus and walkable in this weather"

This program is hard up for cash obviously. Maybe time to eliminate a few of the positions in the AD if they can't do their jobs. Just goes to show they don't really care about the fan base. Half the season ticket holders are likely employees of the university anyway so they are just probably stoked they got their friday night freed up. For the actual season ticket holders its just a slap in the face. I was offered to upgrade my seats, and some lines about added benefits to the fan experience. I know people in the AD read this, the fan experience is worse this year then ever. Still no numbers on the scoreboards, still very few if any replays on the giant jumbotron. The same lame stats as always on the side scoreboards. Still half the vendors not open for games and literally no courtside club benefits this year. EVERYTHING has taken a step back this season and its inexcusable. Well, I’m glad they’re at least offering you a chance to upgrade your seats as well. That’s a slightly better option than exchanging the ticket for a game that we’re already attending. I don’t like the idea that I’m only being offered that because I’m being publicly harsh about my feelings about the timing of the announcement. I think there are some things we need to be patient with the athletic department on. We just lost Adam and Julius last year, and those are big shoes to fill. I felt like having those two was the best we’ve had in years, and it will take some time for the new guys to be at that level. From my experience, Joe has been responsive. Having said that, I’m pretty sure the person/people who made this decision are a bit higher up, have been here for a while, and should know better than to give the (sadly dwindling) loyal fans literally no time to rearrange a work schedule. And that’s a concern. If you saw where I sit youd laugh at the offer to upgrade them.

Didnt shut me down from driving from Franklin to my buddies apartment in my 1999 lumina to get drunk as f*** after delivering pizza all night. It didn't shut me and my friends down, either. Closed down The Harp that night and walked home. Lol 100 percent the Harp wont be closing down for snow, so you can relive the glory days in that regard.

This is exactly what I meant before about a dysfunctional AD. An actual properly-functioning AD, knowing this far ahead how big the storm is going to be, would have had some contingency, some kind of actual PLANNING for what alternatives, and give everyone fair warning, like "the tip off time may be changed due to the coming weather". This speaks more of a program and/or athletic department that still doesn't know its right hand from its left Damn a Tyrunner post im agreeing with, just goes to show they either A. Dont care about the fans B. Are incompetent C. Both

That’s fair, and I haven’t been told where I’d be upgraded to if I select that option (my normal seat is still $19 tomorrow, and I’m doubting they’d upgrade me to a $38 seat), but at least that’s something. I don’t like that they’re making us make hay to get this upgrade as an option.

This may have been a decision made by more than just the people inside the university. Horizon League may have had some input. CSU most certainly had to agree to it at the very least.
Whoever made the decision, I can understand the tough position they're in but you have got to be more decisive than this. The storm was predicted to be as much as 10-12 inches at the beginning of the week...if you knew this was a possibility why not act on Tuesday? The phones didn't work Tuesday?

Now, of course, Tuesday's gone with the wind.

Jimmy it wasnt that tough, our AD is just incompetent. Time to start clearing some of the old guard out if they cant do their jobs. The post of the AD on this thread is about as tone deaf as it goes. Nothing like our AD to create a problem out of nowhere for most of their fans. Sure this solves the issue for most of the university employees who mostly go to the games to glad hand.

If you are referring to me, I posted the update when it went official to alert this board ASAP. If you think that I personally made the decision you really don't get it at all.

I don't think anyone was suggesting it was you. I certainly wasn't. I'm not mad at anyone, I'm just bummed about missing a pretty good game. I guess if anyone I'm mad at the clouds.

If you are going to move it, move it to Saturday at the very leas. Whether it’s an afternoon game on Saturday or a Saturday night game, it makes more sense than moving things ahead. I work on Friday afternoons so I won’t be able to go.

I work on Friday afternoons so I won’t be able to go. I doubt CSU would be willing to play back-to-back as they need to play Green Bay on Sunday at 1 pm. Of course that game is also going to be a ghost town, but they've got a much better reason! Grocery stores in GB are gonna be packed during the game!

Like my parents used to say I’m not mad just disappointed. 1 step forward two steps back should be on the gruber shirts next season.
