One night after handing a sub-.500 Washington team a walk-off win, the Crew pounds Pittsburgh, 14-1.
If there's method to this madness, I'm having trouble finding it.

we went from the 6th playoff spot to the 3rd spot with a single win. thats how tight things are in the NL. outside Atlanta leading their division comfortably, everything else is far from settled.

The Reds are hosting the Nationals tonight. The Reds are up 3-1 in the 6th at this writing.
The Cubs who had charged back into something approaching contention, were shut out at home by Atlanta.

The Brewers inability to actually drive in runs consistently is absolute INSANITY.

The Crew was helped out last night by the Nationals, who got on the scoreboard late, tied the game in the ninth, and won it in the tenth. The Crew remains half a game ahead of the Reds.
Today the Cubbies jumped out to a lead early, and are now hoping thei bullpen will hold it.

It's been both a fun (defensively) and maddening (offensively) season. No idea where this is going to go.

The most maddening is how poorly they play against teams they should beat: lost a series to Washington and split with Pittsburgh.
If they can't play more consistently, it won't matter if they win the division or a wildcard spot. They won't advance.

We have some good hitters just starting or on the cusp of getting called up, but our pitching staff's not going to stay together soon.

No idea where this is going to go. As it should be. It would not be nearly as fun to follow a team when the outcome is known. This is what I love these days about the Brewers. EVERY YEAR they are in the running for a title right up through the final series of each season. After suffering through most of the first four-plus decades of the franchise, I am enjoying every minute of each season. Even this year's Braves' fans do not know where this will go for them in the postseason. Remember the 116 win Seattle Mariners in 2001?

From Will Leitch on MLB.com:
7. Milwaukee Brewers Leitch: I know, I know: This seems early. But regardless of any skepticism one might or might not have about the Reds -- and while I think they’re as well-positioned the next few years as any team in this division, in 2023 they sure look like a team that’s going to run out of gas -- the Brewers look like a team about to find itself.
After a slow start (for him, anyway), Corbin Burnes looks like his Cy Young self again, and he's got old running mate Brandon Woodruff alongside him again. Speaking of former award winners, Christian Yelich has been giving off some real 2019 vibes lately himself. They were smart and surgical at the Deadline, bringing in some real OBP juice with Mark Canha and Carlos Santana, at discount prices. They have a bullpen that has been getting the job done yet again. Devin Williams has been magical and he hasn’t even been the best reliever on this staff. (That would be Joel Payamps). And they have a manager in Craig Counsell who always seems to be finding every little advantage his team can get. I’m not sure they’re passing the Dodgers for a No. 2 seed -- though they might! -- but they have exactly the sort of roster that thrives in the postseason. They’re my big postseason sleeper pick … assuming, of course, they can get in. Look out for these guys. Remember where you heard it first.
