Regardless the destination, it is cool for a program to have legitimate university support and a passionate fan base that travels anywhere. When GCU played in the HOF Classic some 1,200 miles away this past Thanksgiving weekend, it sent the band, cheerleaders, dance team, mascot and about 50 students. This was in addition to other GCU fans and alumni. In other words, it had as much or more support for an MTE on a holiday weekend in a significantly colder city, comparable to Indianapolis, that was over four times further away. We had that vibe in the glory years. Hopefully we can head back in that direction despite the lousy HL deal that was extended another four years. We've never travelled like that. The reason they do is because GCU is a for-profit university and they operate with an understanding for what basketball is: marketing. We did not travel to that extent, but we did have that kind of vibe in Indianapolis, Cleveland, Rosemont and Jacksonville during the glory years. I was there to witness it. The for-profit aspect helps with effective marketing but non-profits market effectively also. It's much more than that. No one at the WAC final tonight will be there because they hold stock in GCU. They are there as a matter of school pride and to have fun. As I stated previously, Milwaukee should not allocate it's limited resources in the exact same way as GCU or other highly successful mid-majors. The organic approach through something like the B&G Club is one way to at least partially compensate for it. I like that. Go for it.

His is a resume that only the late Marty Schottenheimer could love. 15-20 in conference tournaments and 17-28 in the postseason overall. Never been to the NCAA.

Texas Southern goes to the Tourney with a 14-20 record, beating 23-9 Grambling in the SWAC Final. Unreal.

Texas Southern has embraced the one bid conference logic of screwing the regular season and just winning three games in March for the Auto Bid. This is their third straight Auto Bid without a single regular season championship in that span.

This is their third straight Auto Bid without a single regular season championship in that span. There were so many opportunities this year for sub-.500 teams to sneak in. It sucks that Texas Southern was the one to break through, at the expense of one of our own (Grambling HC Donte Jackson).

San Diego State vs. College of Charleston. I can see right through the powers that be.

SDSU vs Charleston Rd 1 is a bummer. Both very good non-P5 teams in rd 1 as the committee loves to do.
At least we get UVA/Furman and Utah St/Missouri.
