I would not be surprised if Lundy was interested in the coaching job in Charlotte. No one is surprised that you would not be surprised.

Since too many here still are going Chicken Little on this, I've been reading the Charlotte message board, and only 3-5 total messages there out of 200+ mention Bart. He's a possibility, but most are looking at other candidates, and Bart's option #20 or something like that.
Plus, Charlotte has named their interim, and with the transfer portal closed, nothing could be done this year anyways. Charlotte is taking their time with this selection, but their new coach will either be an unemployed coach or an assistant that can join right away or very soon. I imagine we'd be asking for a buyout fee with Bart if it came to that, and that salary they're going to offer, a LOT of higher qualified coaches are going to throw their hat in the ring.
I'm more 80/20 that Bart's not going to be going there. He's already building something here, and what would it speak to his character to just up and move his family each time someone offers more money, leaving behind what he's already building? Some of you might, but not everyone.

For what it’s worth, I’ve checked the Charlotte message board as well, and they mentioned some odds on their new coach. I looked it up (just out of curiosity), and the best I can find is this: hoopdirt.com/charlotte-mens-basketball-coaching-search-odds/It shows Lundy as having +2400 odds, which I think works out to about 4% odds.

Odds bumped up to +2000, or 4.78%ish. Naturally some trolls on Twitter are trying to stir Bart's name up. Sounds like McCollum is a favorite, and that Charlotte's going to have a decision made very soon.

It does sound like McCollum is a favorite, and it would give some credence to why he turned down many low and mid major offers if he’s getting nearly 7 figures at an AAC program. Also, I did some math (don’t tell me I don’t know how to use my spare time!) and if you add all the implied odds on that website, it adds up to 170% or so. Does that mean anything? Probably not, but maybe the odds are lower than 4.7%. If they’re moving at a fast pace on this and we’re hearing nothing about Lundy garnering interest, it does seem to seem good for us. But I won’t feel good about it until the ink is dried and somebody else is hired.

There were a couple other names that were more highly regarded in our coaching search than Coach Lundy as well.
This may not be a play for more money, but a potential chance to go back to a place he AND his family have deep ties. I wouldn't necessarily start worrying, but I wouldn't discount it as much as some are.

I think that if he’s offered the job and it pays what we’re expecting, he’s gone. This is essentially Charlotte’s decision, unless Lundy is way more loyal than any coach we’ve ever had, Charlotte isn’t paying as much as we think, and UWM is willing to offer Lundy a raise.
But the rumors I’m reading are that Charlotte’s moving quickly and may make an announcement next week. The only connection we’ve heard between Charlotte and Lundy has been speculation. I haven’t heard any reporting that Charlotte has reached out to Lundy. When Lundy was hired here, we knew Lundy was on the short list with at least a few days (maybe a week plus) notice.
Obviously things could change tomorrow or even tonight. But I am encouraged that we haven’t heard any reporting on Lundy to Charlotte beyond speculation.

Really, his Charlotte ties are all they're basing it on, but his wife's Milwaukee ties had to have factored him coming here. Would she want to move again so soon? It's not that easy with a family, really.

This guy's predictions seem to be all over the board. The silence from all parties is what's most bothering. IF Bart leaves, 1. He's officially the most rotten person to set foot in this city, uprooting his family twice in 18 months and tearing up the hopes of fans and players for the sake of $$$$, and 2. Amanda better have McCollum on speed dial and snatch him right away.

Also I reject the notion that Lundy's rotten if he takes a massive pay increase. If the numbers are true, and the guy could make $1 million or more per year to coach in the city he's lived most of his adult life and the area he still recruits heavily, that's life-changing money. My problem wouldn't be with Coach Lundy. My problem would circle back to the people who are unwilling to adapt and grow with the changing landscape of college sports, who still see it as something for students to do rather than its true value as the front door of the university. And my problem would also be with the person whose job it is to convince them the basketball program is a worthwhile investment that goes beyond erecting a building and ignoring it. We're going to find out THAT person's worth (if Lundy is offered the job) as well.

#1 Lundy isn’t going anywhere. #2 Any HC that ditches his team in June is an asshole.

Plus, it seems that Bart applied for the job times before and they basically blew him off each time.
Would he really show interest when they'd told him before to take a hike multiple times?
