Here's where I am: Florida A&M last night defeated Iowa State in the biggest upset of the RPI/NET era! FAMU's chances of winning in Ames were 1.3%! Just find a way to win these next two games, OK? FOURTEEN of our remaining games are against teams rated 180 or worse in kenpom's rankings. The only two against teams rated better than that are at home. If we don't win AT LEAST 12 games in this miserable conference it's time to cut the cord. Let's not ignore the fact that we have now lost 13 consecutive HL games, a record of futility unmatched since the Ric Cobb era! Either the team needs to make a radical turnaround or the University needs to make some radical changes. No more of this "let's show some improvement" bs. It's time for results. They keep score for a reason. Let's also not forget that this is Amada Braun's program through and through. Her tenure should also be DIRECTLY dependent on such a turnaround.

Yes, so many more cared six years ago. And at least as many more a little over six years before that. Let's not forget when the downward slide started and snowballed, albeit at different speeds, since. You two guys may be the last holdouts who just can't admit how profoundly wrong you were. Remember what you wished for? You got it! Want the proof? Go to the next game and you'll notice that there are thousands fewer fans than we had just five years ago. A "good" ACTUAL crowd now would be 700 people. 700! You will see more fans at D3 games. You will see more fans at HIGH SCHOOL games!! THIS is what our athletics administration has done to the program with its venal mendacity and incompetence. Bad hires and bad fires have killed us! Oh wait -- that's right -- you guys don't go to the games either. Wow! A simple comment that interest and passion in the program gradually decreased ever since the Pearl era generates such a personal attack! I am not sure which of the other generally positive posters on this board you are referring to, so I will only reply for myself. What was I wrong about? I assume you are referring to the program being worse now than in the Jeter era. Yes, I wanted the $500,000/year Jeter long-gone before the end of his 11th year, but only to raise the program from it's "5th placer" mentality and reinvigorate some life into a waning program that many had already jumped ship from. Because of the referenced incompetence of the athletics administration as well as apathy of the administration, it has not yet happened. Bad luck with Jordan's sudden departure was detrimental also. Why keep repeating the same thing about attendance, over and over? I did attend the Albany and Drake games last year and the Oakland home game before that. Those were the only home games I was within 1,900 miles of in recent years. I am well aware of the sad environment for games at the Arena. See my comments in the Albany game thread. It is obviously evident on TV. I attended home games regularly through early January of 2016 and saw attendance and general interest decline over the years. It seems you totally disregard that. May I suggest a New Years resolution for you? It is a new decade. Let go of the bitterness experienced during the last one (speaking of "holdouts"). Focus of the positives, or at least balance the negatives with positives. If unable to see any positives regarding the program, that is fine and understandable. In that case, stop trolling and step far, far away from the keyboard. Meanwhile, I will continue to be realistic, but in a positive and balanced way.

You'll forgive me for observing that your "positive attitude" is rather new. When we had a good coach and a competitive program (that was primed with the best returning player roster and incoming recruits in at least 10 years before our AD threw it and them in the garbage) those of us who had a "positive attitude" endured endless complaints that our coach had to go because he wasn't as good as the previous one, and that our program wasn't winning enough -- even though we were winning at a level we could only dream about now! So sure, you want those of us who are clear eyed about this still developing catastrophe to sit quiet while the program we loved goes up in flames. Like this:
In a word -- no.
It's not fine. And it sure as hell isn't EVER going to get back even to the level of the Jeter era (however much you want to pretend that was some sort of dark period in a D1 program that has only four NCAA bids in its history) unless radical changes are made by the University. How could ANYONE look at the evidence right before all our eyes and think that the current regime has any chance in hell of getting this program back just to where it was five years ago in terms of on-court success, fan interest and sponsor support? That's insane. We are on a path to being Detroit or Youngstown or, let's be honest -- CHICAGO STATE.
Hope is not a strategy. Pretending it will get better when the evidence shows it hurtling in the other direction is not a plan; it's not even a "path to prominence!" Sitting quiet about it is surrender.

Fran, I wish your voice, and the voice of all Panther fans on this forum, would be heard by and have influence on the administration. As we have discussed often through the years, it does not seem like our voices are being heard.
Meanwhile, we have two big games this weekend. Go Panthers!
