<I wss a bit shocked at ticket prices. Bought a ticket in my old section 225. $27. A bit pricey I think for a UWM Panther game. If I brought my wife we would have been out $54 plus $16 dollars parking at Isaac's garage. $8 for a jumbo hot dog, really?? Oh well.... <Side thought..... the irrelevance issue. Look in the Journal Sentinel and it lists the local sports teams..We stand out with NO RADIO...not a good look. <I actually though am going to attend more games and likely renew my seasons for next year. The prices like in all team sports, gives you a price break for season tickets. Panthers, MU, Admirals, Brewers, etc. For the Panthers they give each account discount coupons for $3 beers, discounts on hot dog, brat and popcorn as well. Even for this year, you might want to looked into the mini plan. You will save on single game pricing. Or season tickets start at $99 in the 300 level. As for the radio, that was talked about with Brian Morgan six years ago. Long overdue to be off of radio. The cost is way too much for the lack listeners they did not get back even in the Jeter era. The ad's we got still did not make up the cost for the poor ratings. The app is great! Same boardcast. I listen to the postgame on my drive home. The diehards will use the app.

What made it shocking for me personally was that it literally was smaller than anything I witnessed even in the Cobb era. Did not think that was possible. A lot of things have played into this, Braun's handling of the Jeter dismissal, poor marketing, poor media relations, lack of institutional emphasis, AD not prioritizing mens basketball to the extent needed, a long mediocre run after lighting in a bottle in mid 2000's, lack of continuity and focus in AD postion. Klotsche return, Geiger... alienating key donors, decline in v8isibility in broadcasts both radio and tv, poor marketing, ie, not enough group sales and promotions, so many things cumulatively and over course of a decade have all played into what we have now.

Pounce, appreciate all the comments above. When I got home last night talked about the game with my wife and how much I enjoyed it but a bit surprised at the cost. She raised the question, wow, what would it cost a family of four then. Well, did tell her that there are promotions, family paks etc and she said great but how do people know about that. I said, like trying to find a radio broadcast, you have to know you can or know how to go on line. This is where it ties into the radio. I understand all of the above and I now listen to the link and it is fine. Guess it is just me but our perception is important as being relevant and when someone who is not aware of broadcast link looks and sees that it is like, wow, UWM does not even have its games broadcast any more? Would be nice and know it is not a huge thing but sometimes smaller things contribute to overall perception, couldn't we get the Journal Sentinl to List Black and Gold Network or something similar instead of saying no radio. Makes us look really cheesy and small time.

Please don't take anything I say as harsh. Just talking here. I guess my question is how do the Admirals and more so the Wave do well? The Wave does it's info on their website and social media. Same with Admirals and Panthers. There is no radio boardcast for the Wave. Those are the cheapest and best way to get a hold of the most. I also post stuff for fans in the ticket info thread. It's such a fine line in 2019, to get the info out. The newspaper is died. Nobody under 60 years old touches one. Maybe, radio, yet at what cost? Twitter, facebook, mail, email. Also, in terms of cost. I'm surprised you are surprised. The Admirals and Wave in the 200 level, that is a $30 ticket. Sitting that low for the Bucks or Marquette at Fiserv Forum the cost is much much higher than $30. We just need to drive more people on ticket info to the Panthers website. mkepanthers.com/sports/2014/9/11/tickets.aspx

Pounce, good discussion and good points. Suspect maybe the Wave and Admirals do a lot more with group promotions. Part of it too could be it attracts and hockey fans who do not have other choices really for their sports viewing unlike basketball. Attend a Wave game each year with my grandson and son in law through a group promotion through son inws employer. The in game entertainment and energy at that is so much higher. Tons of school groups and kids accordingly so it is really now and fun. In game entertainment over the years at Panther games has continued to sag. What little there now is pathetic. After the games they let the kids come down and walk around the field and get autographs and pictures with players fwiw

That Family Plan is outstanding....back to the groups....if can get school groups there and treat the kids realy special and make it fun possibly can result in bugging parents to take to future games.....thinking the other day the Admirals had a huge promotion during the day for school groups ....

I took my family of five to last night’s UND game for about $70, 300 level, by playing games with two Pounce Pal memberships. It is the first game that I have been to in over a year after giving up my season tickets two years ago. My thoughts: - They seem to play as a more cohesive group than in past years which was nice to see. Roy looks great. I’m glad they are 4-1 but to be honest, I’m not really sure what to make of this team yet. Their wins are against two DIII teams and two bad DI squads who have yet to beat a DI team between the two of them. My hope for this year was that we would simply be above average and you would expect an above average team to beat these teams. They did, which is a step in the right direction.
- The arena improvements are nice and the security theater was easy and not the “take your clothes off” experience of past years.
- I like the MKE Brewing deal but I wish that it extended to having one or two of their beers on tap at the arena or at least have the same “bring a ticket and get a beer” deal for after the game.
- I don’t know why they moved the inflatable Panther head to the other side of the arena. Now they run out and have to stop/slow down as they weave between the rows of courtside seats and the basket. It just seemed awkward to me.
- The game atmosphere flat sucks. There are no fans at all and it is really sad. In fact, a group of UND fans were able to move to center court, row 1 of the 200 level when it became apparent to them that they were going to be empty. No band (this has been discussed). No leadership in attendance that I saw, unless you are counting Gruber. There seemed to be less cheerleaders and members of the dance team at the game than usual. And what is going on with the students? Make some noise! Student attendance has always been an issue but there have usually been a die-hard or two that you could count on to not sit there like they were watching someone putt when the other team is at the line. I agree with Stevie that school groups should be looked at. We need bodies in seats, period.
- The ticket prices for this kind of sporting experience are simply too high. We can compare the cost of UWM games to that of the Bucks, Admirals, Wave, MU, etc. all we want but we are not the Bucks, Admirals, Wave, MU, etc. They can price their tickets how they want because the product and perceived value is much better. The attendance at Panther games is not a temporary anomaly. People have voted with their pocketbooks and have determined that the game experience is not worth the 15, 27, 35 price points that are offered. After sampling a few food items and parking on the street, I spent about $90 (with no beer). To be fair, I still have two kid vouchers for select (really? lol) future games included in that price. On the 27th, I would pay only about $15-$20 more to go to the Admirals game with similar seating with a much better game environment. Something has to give.
- I have no opinion on the radio issue. Clearly it hasn’t worked in increasing attendance the past few years but I wonder how we expect to attract more fans by being even more obscure in a crowded Milwaukee sports landscape. I wasn’t around back in the Cobb era. What did they do to increase attendance then? Was it simply winning? Could the university mail a free ticket voucher to the 192,000 alumni who still live in a 30-40 mile radius? If that number is only 30% of the total and only 10% of those take advantage, that is 5,700 more butts in the seats (plus guests). If only 10% of those keep coming, that increase is more than the current season ticket base (at least according to the white board at the ticket office) - plus guests. These seats are empty anyway. I’m spitballing here.
Sorry for the Jimmy length post. I’m happy that the on court performance has improved and hope to get to more games but man, it is depressing.

It would be nice if the the students would (consistently) do their part as well...especially for such a large school enrollmentwise. The difference in student attendance between Saturday and Tuesday was insane. They get a free ticket, free travel to the game, and pretty cool giveaways at times. Pretty sweet deal...and it's definitely being advertised enough. Students need to be courted. If there's anything we know about the college-age crowd, it's that each of their worlds revolve around themselves. I certainly was that way when I was a student (yeah I know). So the marketing to them needs to center around - you guessed it - them. Anybody familiar with San Diego State, and their monster student section? What's it called? THE SHOW. An opposing coach complained about them in a post-game presser, saying something along the lines of, "Those kids are just insane, they think they're the show." They took that sh*t and RAN WITH IT. Bingo! The students should be a primary focus. After all, this is COLLEGE basketball. Create an enthusiastic student fan base and then the "old people" will want to experience what all of the fun is about. I see it first-hand several times a year attending GCU games. Although team success on the court has stagnated over the last couple years, the HAVOCS are as charged up as ever and the 7,000+ arena seats continue to sell out each season. My apologies for re-posting this old article, but it explains the secret behind the program's success. ftw.usatoday.com/2017/02/grand-canyon-university-antelopes-basketball-best-student-section-havocs-dan-majerleOf course, it all starts with an administration that understands and supports what it takes to generate and maintain a primary sports program. This has been THE major problem throughout UWM's existence, except for during the Zimpher era.
