Perhaps the biggest frustration of being a Panther basketball fan is the secrecy that surrounds the program.
The latest examples are from last night's season opening game. Last year's team MVP misses the season opener and no reason is provided other than Scott Warras' in-game comment that it was a coach's decision. The coach was not asked in his press conference or during the post game show on the audio stream whether or when he will be back. Some confirmation about Amir Allen's absence and expected return would have been appreciated also. I realize and understand the requirement for privacy of the individuals involved, but at least tactful comments from the program are warranted.
Nothing has been stated about the game not being streamed on ESPN3, despite the pre-game promotion that it would be. Perhaps the "technical difficulties" were out of UWM's control, but how about an apology from the SID and assurance that that the issue will be addressed and corrected prior to futiure games? Show some empathy toward the few Panther fans that there are, for heaven sakes. It costs nothing to do this.
I looked for a game story on JSOnline. Nothing. I looked for an archived stream of the pre-game show on the Black and Gold Network to hear if anything was mentioned about Roy and/or Allen. Maybe it is available somewhere in cyberspace, but if it is I cannot easily find it like I could on IHeart Radio previously.
Could you imagine if Badger and Golden Eagle fans would experience the same type of frustrations? They don't. Those programs are relevant. The questions are asked. The issues are reported by independent media and discussed.
Nothing new here folks. I'm just venting, I guess.

I'm not sure what media members are at the press conference.

The broadcast failed because the Fujitsu Encoder failed and now needs to be replaced. It's a very expensive and key piece of technology and there were no warning signs that this was going to happen. Last night was the 28th scheduled ESPN+/3 broadcast of the 2019-20 school year and the first one that didn't make it on the air. I can assure you everything that could have been done was being done last night. In hindsight, you are correct, I should have gone on social media to apologize. That's on me. From what I now know of the situation, there is no reason we shouldn't be good moving forward.

I always appreciate when you come on this forum to answer questions and address concerns, and I know others do too. I will assume I can watch the Western Michigan game as scheduled, unless we hear from you otherwise.
