Published two days ago from respected mlb.com columnist Richard Justice as part of a column entitled "Six Unanswered Quuestions As Spring Training Nears":
4. Haven’t the Brewers had another sneaky good offseason?
Absolutely. As usual. No general manager operates more fearlessly (or smartly) than Milwaukee’s David Stearns. Of the 25 players on the Brewers 25-man National League Wild Card Game roster, 14 of them are gone. But Stearns added Josh Lindblom and Brett Anderson to his rotation, Avisaíl García to the outfield, Justin Smoak to the infield and Omar Narváez to the catching crew. With one of the Majors' best outfields and an assortment of young pitching options, Milwaukee should not be underestimated.

so baseball is proposing expending the playoffs to ggo to 14 teams, 7 in each league. Top seed in both leagues gets a bye, while the other 6 play in a best of 3 wildcards round. that part of the proposal i like. heres the part i dont like. No tiebreaker games, and the higher seeds pick their opponents. . Me personally, I'd go to 12 teams , adding a 3rd wildcard and have the wildcard round, be best of 3. The wild caard round would include the 3rd ranked division winner, like football did in the 90s. top 2 seeds get byes.

No playoff expansion PLEASE! It would simply be a money grab that cheapens the value of the regular season. Enough teams make the playoffs already.
I would rather abandon the traditional National and American Leagues and realign geographically. The Twins and White Sox should be in the same division as the Brewers and Cubs, etc. It would create additional revenue and enhance fan rivalries.

Going to 12 and adding a 3rd wildcard eliminates the dumb one game play in. It's a simple fix, that keeps the regular season meaningful and keeps teams in contention longer. 7 per league MIGHT work, if you ditch the dumb "pick your opponent idea, and have it be 2-7, 3-6etc.

One game Wild Card is great! Don't want to play in that game win the division.
