Drew’s record at Vanderbilt: Year 1: 19-15 (10-8) Year 2: 12-20 (6-12) Year 3: 9-23 (0-18) Their season ended on a NINETEEN game losing streak! While three years typically isn’t enough time, this program got notably worse each season. Historically long losing streaks, especially to end a season, are almost never just the result of talent deficiencies or injuries. Usually something else is going on -- bad chemistry between the players, or between the players and coaches, or coaching indifference. Termination in such a case doesn't generally result from the record alone, but from the reason for it. Hmmm.

Even though Vandy's AD is brand new, Drew's best argument to be retained was having 3 years left on his contract.

High major D1 basketball is a results-driven big business. The steep downward trend and historically poor season is enough to justify Drew's termination. It is as simple as that, nothing more.
It must be nice for an AD to have the resources to fire a coach with multiple years left on the contract.
Drew's return to Valpo would be perfect for both sides. Too bad Valpo currently has a coach.

Cal fires Wyking Jones, speculation is Jason Kidd is going back to his alma mater, to be their next coach.

Mercer is close to signing Greg Gary, current Purdue assistant, as its next coach.

Another open seat on NU’s bench. I like Donlon and UMKC though so it’s all good.
