I'm legitimately curious as to what they're looking for in a bid. Are they looking to get paid? Are they expecting an event promotions company to be included? You know there has to be space for yoga....the precedent has been set.

Went on the HL Discussion board this morning. Consensus is that this is a rigged deal and it is going to be Indy. Wonder if the Farmers Coliseum capacity is adequate at 6,800 but then again....also technically adequate to support media logistics but if not going back to the original formula could live with this as love going to Indy. Detroit just does not do it for me

There is zero chance that a neutral site tournament for today's Horizon League could draw 5,000 people to any session.
I like going to Indy too -- for events downtown. The whole downtown is set up for big sporting events at Lucas Oil Stadium and Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Everything -- hotels, bars, restaurants, event venues -- is within walking distance. I have been there many times for the Big Ten tournament and the Final Four.
Indiana Farmers Coliseum, on the other hand, is on the Indiana state fair grounds, which are in a neighborhood that could charitably be called boring. And it's more than five miles away from Monument Circle. Siting the HL tournament there would be akin to putting UWM's home baseball field in Franklin. Crazy, right? You'd only do something like that if you were desperate and had no other options.

so basically, we'd need to finishj in the top 8 to qualify? I can live with that. the hybrid formula where 1 and 2 play before 3 through 6 made no sense.

Over the next few months, LCA will be switching out all of the seats from red to black to mask the lack of attendance for Pistons and Red Wings games. For Motor City Sadness, they should heavily consider removing seats altogether.

If this Top 8 scenario is the way things are going to be going forward, it should be written into the head coach's contract (the current head coach and every one after) that not qualifying for the Horizon League Tournament is grounds for immediate termination. I don't find this the least bit unreasonable, and neither should any of you.

That's not accurate at all.

I don't find this the least bit unreasonable, and neither should any of you. Not only would coaches not agree to this provision, schools could potentially screw themselves financially too.
