With the season over I suppose it’s never too early to discuss next years schedule. I’m excited to see what this team can do next year and hoping we can get a solid schedule.
Non-Conference @wisconsin? (Do they “buy game” us again next year, set up a series, or drop playing us all together?
Conference Nine Home Games Nine Road Games
What do you guys think could/will be our 11-13 non-conference games? It appears most, if not all, of our home and home agreements have wrapped up.

Iowa State will probably not return our call.
Hopefully we can get something with Northwestern as they lose two of their top three scorers.

I would think there will be an exempt tournament that gets you 3 games. Guessing there won't be 16 home games because of that.

I would like to go see DePaul's new arena, so it wouldn't bother me to see them on the schedule. Any MVC or A-10 teams would be nice. Wouldn't mind seeing the likes of a Lipscomb or Florida Gulf Coast at Panther Arena, either.
Of course, it would also be nice if LaVall would throw us a bone and restart an old series. I never got to go to Hinkle.

The chance that a Big East team would agree to play us in Milwaukee is zero. They already play Marquette here, but even more basically, at this point that would be like agreeing to play at Liberty or Wagner. Even DePaul, pathetic as they are, has probably moved on.

Regardless of who we play, I think we can all agree that another span of 5 consecutive road games can’t happen. We had the dumbest conference schedule...ever?

I don't think 5 in a row is as bad as it sounds to an outsider. It's broken up over 2 weekends. That said, it's weird and stupid. That shouldn't happen. Games need to be spaced out home and road in all sports. Just the simple fact in trying to sell tickets.

I am hoping that we do not do another "buy game" from UW. I used to think this helped the program get some TV time and all of that, but I am not so sure anymore. Am I the only one that thinks this?

This logic absolutely eludes me. Just two years ago -- albeit with a veteran coach and better players -- we beat UW in Madison in a year they reached the Sweet 16. It's an easy trip for the team, it allows Panther fans to attend a game in a big time environment, it guarantees press attention from the JS, which often ignores us, it's almost always on national TV, AND we get paid for it.
If we're going to shy away from playing the high majors in our own backyard, then the plan has worked. We are the low major afterthought that our administration believes we are.

I hope we play them! Whether it is a buy game or not, I think the more high majors we play the better. Every once in a long while we can beat one, which is great for the program. One win against uw or whoever is worth at least ten wins against schools no one has heard of or knows about.

The more I think about it, the more I want us to find a way to play Marquette next year. I know Braun has hinted at renewing the series but I wonder how serious those discussions have been.

I've talked to my Marquette buddies and they've said that UWM can have a scrimmage, not a regular-season game. That appears to be how the boosters are voting.

If that’s all the two sides can work out then I guess we’ll have to live with it. I couldn’t pass on the opportunity to see the Panthers play in the new arena.
