It didn't get better with Soria and Barnes. Well, Counsell and Knebel definitely put Soria in a position to fail, right?! As for Barnes, why is he on the team?

Evidently, he was injured. Maybe the time has come to move Knebel down the line and put Burnes in higher-leverage situations.

If the Brewers could score runs after the fourth inning, they’d be in a better situation.
The last few games at least, they’ve jumped out to early leads which they’ve not been able to build on, so the opponent had only to wait for the Crew’s bats to go quiet in the middle and later innings and then mount a rally and pass them.

And they follow up the win with another loss, to fall three games back, and begin a series with the Cubs in Chicago next.
i wish i saw reasons to hope that the slide into irrelevance will not continue.

Please don't give up on Braunie, folks!!! If I recall correctly, he's thrived at this time of year before!!!

I’m willing to be convinced that this is a playoff team.
Today is a good start, but this late in the season, the Crew really needs to play well consistently. If they could approach how they played in May, that would help a lot.
That, and cloning the 2018 version of Jhoulys Chacin.

No more crazy experimentation! Play Braunie!!!

The Crew has played 127 games so far this season; the Cubs have played 123. The Crew has won one less game and lost five more games than the Cubs. A division title is possible, but only if the Crew plays much better in the last 35 games.
With the Cardinals heating up, a wild card spot is not a sure thing, either.
I’m still willing to be convinced that this is a playoff-caliber club. But the margin for error is thin and getting thinner by the game.

Because of the Brewers' general lack of championship success, it is easy to understand fans' scepticism. Before getting too negatively influenced by the Brewers' less-than-stellar results since July 8, fans can hopefully enjoy the race for what it is. Here is some historical perspective:
Starting September 10, 2008, I attended a four game series in Philadelphia to watch the Brewers take on the Phillies. The Phillies started the series 12 games above .500 and 3.5 games back in their division (sound familiar?). Since June 8 of that year, the Phillies were treading water, playing under .500 in that 2+ month span. At that time, the team had won just one World Series in the franchise's 125 year existence. Many Phillies' fans that I spoke to at the beginning of the series had a gloomy outlook regarding the Phillies short and long term future. The Phillies swept the four game series (leading to the firing of Brewer manager Ned Yost) which catipulted them to a strong finish. They went on to win the World Series that year and the NL pennant the following year!
On August 28, 2011, the St. Louis Cardinals won for the 70th time in game number 134 (last night, the Brewers won for the 70th time in game number 127). At that time, the Cardinals were 10.5 games out of the NL Central lead and 9.5 games out of the wild card race. Talk at that time among Cardinal fans and media was pretty much focused on retooling for future seasons. The Cardinals went on to win the World Series that year!
Last August, the Houston Astros were 11-17. Late last August through mid-September, the Dodgers lost 16 of 17 games. How confident do you think their fans were toward the end of those stretches? The two teams went to the World Series!
The Brewers involvement in a pennant race is one of my favorite sports-spectating experiences. I have no idea if they can acheive anything close to the accomplishments referenced in the three examples above. As fans, all we can do is sit back and watch it unfold. The potential for what could happen is what makes this so exciting!
