So Ran Tut joins Leek Leek on the All-Name Team of Players who didn't choose Milwaukee.

Interesting follow up. Thanks for posting. He had to have known that he wouldn't get the playing time he wanted in the SEC. I'm guessing it's an example of a guy who knew what was best for him but fell victim to the "wow factor" of a power conference's facilities and ammenities. Now he's stuck riding the pine instead of making an immediate impact. Sounds a lot like something a familiar face is dealing with over in the Big Ten.

Cause even though he's not a starter he's first guard off the bench and he's actually made a pretty significant impact on the Gophers. As far as Tutt, really wish he would of signed with us, he definitely would have seen much more playing time and had a huge impact. But this also just may be a one year thing for him at SC and could see a jump in planting time next season.

And aside from the game against OSU where he put up 18 pts, he's been getting about 17 mpg in conference play. Substantially less than the 31-32 mpg he's been used to the last two years. Not disagreeing with his decision, as he'll likely get to experience the big dance in March. But I'm sure he was expecting some more time on the court. Especially when the games matter. He obviously would be getting over 30 mpg in Milwaukee and possibly Alabama too. You won't convince me that he's happy with the amount of time he's getting in Minnesota.

I watch a lot of Minnesota basketball because I have plenty of family that went there and Keem of course. But I think he's getting the exact amount of playing time he deserves on that team. He is a streaky shooter and Pitino knows that, when he's on, he plays a lot more. Nate Mason, Amir Coffey(Potential Big10 freshman of the year), and McBrayer are all better than him. I'm sure he'll be happy with his 21mpg when they make the tournament. Just my opinion.

You're right about everything, and I won't be able to convince but I do think he's happier about the potential experiences that come at a power conference school, not to mention him having a chance to be apart of something like that as a key factor on a team that's correctly ranked in the top 25. He's not getting any DNP(CD). So those factors in my opinion outweigh averaging 30-32mpg for a team that isn't going to reach a tournament.

This was a great story last week: Akeem Springs emerging as a leader for GophersOh yeah, I should probably include this story from yesterday: Gophers to try starting lineup change inserting senior Akeem Springs (Bonus Milwaukee-Wisconsin reference inside) I won't go into the disgust I feel for a certain employee of the university for obvious reasons, but I will say this: I felt sick to my stomach seeing Austin Arians and Akeem Springs hit the 1,000-point milestone and be celebrated somewhere else. Milwaukee has 26 1,000-point scorers in school history. We would have added two this season.

It does blow not seeing them doing it as a Panther, but who's to say they would be doing it anyways at a Big Ten and ACC school. (I know, I know, they would have stayed if Jeter was coach) My question is why? Players and Coaches want to be at high level leagues/schools. Grad transfers is the new era!

(I know, I know, they would have stayed if Jeter was coach) My question is why? Players and Coaches want to be at high level leagues/schools. Grad transfers is the new era! Who's to say? Them. Take them at their word. If you can't, or maybe they didn't say it publicly (I can't remember if it was said to me personally or publicly), remember that Austin and Akeem stayed through the APR ban. Jordy Johnson followed Rob to Las Vegas, so you can be safe in assuming he'd also be playing this year. Unfortunately for Ran Tut, he's riding the pine. Panthers could really use depth in the post. Their first priority in recruiting the post should be a JUCO; the team is going to need a senior beast in 2018-19, not 2020-21 (I feel like those numbers make no sense). Two season from now, your roster will be this: Seniors: Stull, Bell Juniors: Nze, Barnes, Haas, Johnson Sophomores: Saddler, Alderson, Newsome That's three SF wings, five guards and a power forward. Even more, that's an Anthony Hill-style power forward with more of a face-up game, so where does the rebounding come from? They're going to need multiple bigs - I'd say as many as three - with 2 of them JUCO. If I were planning out the classes, I'd do three post players and one wing for next year. I don't know if this Kyle McKinley they've been after is worth the scholarship. He looks like he's going to need too much development, I'd rather see them get a high school senior over him to give them another year. Vance Johnson is a good recruit. If they can get him here, I'll be more confident in their JUCO recruiting. He's not a world-beater and I'm a bit surprised he hasn't gotten more interest, but he's got a voracious need to consume loose balls, which is something you really really want (see: Matt Tiby, Chris Hill etc.) plus he has the kind of length valued by the previous three head coaches that the team is really lacking right now. This roster is in a good place. Obviously it's too early to tell, but if Jordan's first recruiting class of Bell/Saddler/Haas/Harvey can reach the level of Franklin/Avo/Massiah/Young (one dud), the team will be in great position in a couple years. I'm not sure how Bo Ryan's first class was because I don't know which of the 1999-2000 players were his recruits - I just know Ronnie Jones and Clay Tucker were Ric Cobb recruits. Interestingly enough, Pearl's first recruiting class looked pretty pedestrian, considering Tigert and Hill were Bo Ryan holdovers.

I know for sure (100%) Springs and Arians would be here if Jeter was the coach. Take the face off the player. If you can leave a one-bid mid-major league and transfer to a high profile leagues in the B1G and ACC for your senior year without sitting out, why would you not?

There's not one blanket answer. It's a case-by-case basis for all transfer possibilities. The 5th year transfer rule was well intentioned but it's not good for the sport as a whole. The last thing college sports needs is free agency (excluding coaching changes).

Depends how much you value winning vs actually playing. Only played in 12 games and only averaged .9 ppg.
