The department always runs a promotion for the opener.
It will be interesting to see the crowd for the SIUE game on a Thursday night. Let's hope the guys win at least 2 games in Florida. Of course, with the JS apparently boycotting coverage of Milwaukee (oh, excuse me: "UW - Milwaukee") basketball in any venue farther away than an indifferent sports hack can stumble from the JS newsroom, very few people may actually know what happens in Florida next week.

Fran, honest question: how much do you suppose it costs to send a reporter to South Bend/Notre Dame, Ind.?

There was no promo for that game, that's what made it a great student turnout.

. Membership in the Panther Pit costs only $5 and includes a free t-shirt, special event invitations and the opportunity to earn rewards. Students who attend three men's or women's basketball games will receive a free Jimmy John's gift card, while those who attend six men's or women's basketball contests will earn a free Panthers yowie headband.

I'm relatively new to the Milwaukee area and a fairly casual Panther fan who has only been on this board a little bit. I was just ecstatic to see any Panther game on TV last night. I know they will probably show it over again a few times on the Time Warner Cable channel since that's what they do.
Would casual fans really be a lot more excited about UWM if that televised win had been over, say, Toledo, Chicago State, or even an MVC team like Bradley or Illinois State or something? I doubt it.
I went to Marquette's debacle against Iowa the other night with a friend who's an Iowa fan. I'd much rather watch UWM this year than a bunch of top recruits who look like they don't know what they are doing. If UWM keeps winning they'll get at least some attention, and crowds will be OK. I think this is going to be a fun team to follow this year.

Welcome to the board. Here comes the shameless plug: follow PantherU.com, @pantheru on Twitter, and PantherU on Facebook for news, rumors and talk. Also our message board is linked below. It's not as active (I've slacked off on building the membership) but usually I keep updates on big items flowing on the premium section of the forum, if you ever get more into the Panthers than the casual fan.
