So what does the board think it should be.

They didnt it was unofficial when Jimmy was a student. Then they had the Panther Pack which was lame and not really used. So they are naming it

They're having a vote to name this ridiculous thing on Facebook, by the way. As of this post, the votes are as follows: Panther Pit - 103 Milwaukee Maniacs - 6 The Jungle - 29 The Concrete Jungle - 23 It's literally going to happen again. If you don't know what 'it' is, a little backstory: Back in 2008, the marketing department came out with a student rewards program called the Panther Pack. It was actually a pretty good program put on by Jason Clark and intern John Corwin. Every game you went to, you got points. Over the year I probably had ten meals paid for by going to sporting events, got a couple t-shirts and a bunch of other trinkets. The bad side of it was that to promote it, they decided to rename the student section as such without conferring with, you know, the actual student section. They put that huge banner across the front of the section that said "Panther Pack." If you were around then you'd probably remember opposing fans making fun of the fact that panthers don't run in packs. Well, they're at it again. Panthers, who have nothing to do with pits, are about to find a student section named in their honor. The Panther Pit. I'd rather see the student section go from people thinking we ripped off Duke to us actually ripping off IUPUI by naming the student section The Jungle. Wouldn't a pit of panthers be bad for the panthers? Is it such a good thing that we've got a pit, in the ground, full of panthers? Were the panthers trapped there? Were they lured into it? Were they a great big fat person? Were they chloroformed and put in the back of a van, driven unconscious to a house, taken to the basement, and thrown in this pit? Do they put the lotion on their skin or else they get the hose again? THEY DON'T HAVE A LOT OF EXPOSED SKIN. IT'S ALMOST ENTIRELY FUR. Seriously, when you leave it completely up to a random vote, this is what happens. |

How many of the folks voting on Facebook are actual students, and how many of those have actually attended a game in the past? Was the election set up to allow only actual student fans to vote? Does anyone in the department know? Does anyone in the department care?
