This is an impressively underwhelming schedule. Yikes.

This is an impressively underwhelming schedule. Yikes. That is just the home part. NKY has not released the whole non-conference schedule.

Who here has any faith that expanding to a 20-game league schedule would eliminate the non-D1 games altogether? Anyone? Bueller?!

I think I'm the only one that does not mind a non-D1 game. Maybe that is me, in viewing sports too much as dollar and cents. The thing I don't understand is why so many are bothered by it. (I have a feeling this can be a good topic)

It's damn near impossible to sell folks on a non-D1 game. I agree with your first sentence. I will add to it, it's tough for almost everyone to sell tickets for games in November & December, as college basketball is overlooked by fans of the NFL and college football. Heck, you maybe can toss in the NBA. The second sentence, not sure I agree with it. Hear me out. I'm not going to use NKY as an example, because that is the thread we are in. I don't see fans buys tickets for a D1 school in UC Irvine, for a NKY game. UC Irvine is not a brand name, even through they have been pretty good the past few years. If NKY played a non-D1 that is a local team. (The key is local) That non-1 fan base will buy tickets to see their school play at the local D1 school in NKY.

Wright State plays local D2 and NAIA teams all of the time. None of those games come close to D1 teams in attendance. Fans do not want to spend money on those games. Those D2 and NAIA teams might bring some of their fans to the games but they never come close to the attendance hit you take from walk up ticket sales that you would get for regular D1 competition. Ok. Your just giving a Wright State case. You actually have a strong fanbase. I never said the home base D1 wants to see them play a non D1. What I am saying you are not seeing a walk up crowd to justify the cost of a H/H series in most cases. It's cheaper for a Division One school to cut a small check to a local non D1 than a H/H series. Airfare, hotel and meal cost is just too high, when there is not an increase for single game tickets. P.S. After I posted. I check your attendance. Your non D1 games were in the same ballpark as most of your D1 non conference games. Heck, one of your non D1 games had better attendance than four of your D1 non-conference games. With one being Toledo. So, I guess my statement was true!
