I find the assetrted disinterest in playing MU based on the past record weird. Is that to be our schedule touchstone? Play no team that is likely to beat us?
The point I was making was that both teams have terrible home non-con schedules (for very different reasons). But the ultimate cause is the same -- the NCAA tournament and television are now driving all scheduling. MU is desperate to get back to the tournament so it won't willingly schedule a team it might lose to. And MU is by no means alone, which leaves teams like Milwaukee scrambling to get ANYONE to play us at home.
The whole scheduling system is a mess.
And as for Monday afternoon games on minor holidays, heaven help us. Why not just lock the Arena doors?

Anyone know if that Notre Dame game is a one-off or the start of a series? It would be amazing to get them in Panther Arena, even if we have to go there a couple times first.

ND is a one-off. And they only said yes after looking at our schedule VERY carefully.

I would love to play MU. They are very beatable and it be a game that would definitely generate student interest. Plus it feel good to stick it to the cross town rival. People on the east side of town have been saying MU is "very beatable" each season for the last 70 or so years, yet out of the nearly 40 times the teams have played UWM has been unable to "stick it" to the cross town "rival." Helps when all but 8 games out of 40 happen with MU in Division I and Milwaukee in D-III or lower.

Helps when all but 8 games out of 40 happen with MU in Division I and Milwaukee in D-III or lower. Try 11 since UWM went back to D1 in 1990. And the "very beatable" card was trumpeted out just about every time ... to no avail. Heck, only 1 of those games was even close (2010). It's funny how some UWM fans only clamor for a game with MU when UWM is anticipated to have a good team. Would I welcome a game with MU? Absolutely. But I do understand why they feel no need/obligation to play UWM, despite their craptastic home non-conference schedule. As Fran pointed out, borderline major teams on the rebound like are going to look out for their best interests in order to get to the NCAA Tournament, which is the barometer a large number of fans and/or administrations judge success on. Whether that be the right way or wrong way, it's the results-oriented world of big-time college sports we now live in.

Nice to see a return to the traditional Thursday-Saturday rotation (or Friday-Sunday, Saturday-Monday) for the most part. #thanksNKU

Nice to see a return to the traditional Thursday-Saturday rotation (or Friday-Sunday, Saturday-Monday) for the most part. #thanksNKU It is different, but for Panther home games it's Sat/Mon, Sat/Mon, Fri, Sat/Mon & Fri/Sun. It's great to see that the GB game in Milwaukee is after winter break. Four Panther home games after Valentine's Day could be huge for ticket sales as football is done!

Students will be there for eight of ten conference home games, with Wright State and NKU the only break games.
Besides the 22 days between home games, I really love this schedule. I don't even mind that much, it's just about a perfect schedule.

There's only one game - UIC at Valpo - that could be construed as a "rivalry" game for either team where the home team is on break. That's it.
The Horizon League deserves a huge round of applause here.
