Jeters been pretty consistent actually. had 14 losses in 5 seasons,16 losses in 2 seasons and above 20 losses in 2 seasons. this season record-wise will probably be his third worst, behind 2012-13 (8 wins ) and 2006-07 (9 wins). winning out would tie 2007-08s mark of 14-16. hes 160-157 overall.

For reference, the basketball budgets:
Detroit: $2.566 million CSU: $2.315 million WSU: $2.308 million Milwaukee: $2.264 million (includes improvements to Klotsche Center) Valpo: $2.116 million UIC: $1.858 million Oakland: $1.857 million Green Bay: $1.692 million YSU: $1.229 million
Just in case people think this program is underachieving. The fact is, people are focusing on Jeter's contract. Would you be griping if he were making the same as Wardle? No. Does the coach's contract have anything to do with how the rest of the program is run? No. If you want better recruits, press them to spend more in recruiting. If you want better operations, tell them to spend more in operations.
I mean, come on. The NCAA passed a bylaw that allows the universities to feed their athletes without limits, yet this school has still got a lot of hungry faces because they haven't taken advantage of that for any sport. How would JJ Panoske be doing in the box against Vashil Fernandez if the strength and conditioning coach had 25-35 more pounds to work with? Well?
That is one example of something that will help us be better on the court. Food. It's so simple. It helps bulk up the players we have, but it's also a recruiting piece we can use if other schools aren't. 'Hey, look, Blank State won't even feed you. We do it every day, every meal if you want it.' Guess what? We're Blank State right now.
You get what you pay for. And we're paying for the fourth best program in the Horizon League. Let's us championships and postseason appearances as the measure, since Jeter's second year:
CSU (Gary Waters, all nine): 136-100, 1 HL Regular Season (2011), 1 HL Tournament (2009), 3 NIT's (2008, 2011, 2012). Detroit (Ray McCallum 7 years, Perry Watson 2 years): 123-149, 1 HL Tournament (2012), 1 NIT (2013). Green Bay (Brian Wardle 5 years, pmck 4 years): 164-114, 1 HL Regular Season (2014), 1 NIT (2014) Valpo (A Drew the whole time): 175-120, 2 HL Regular Season (2012, 2013), 1 NCAA, 1 NIT Wright State (Brad Brownell four years, Billy Donlon 5 years): 171-121, 1 HL Regular Season (2007), 1 HL Tournament (2007), 1 NCAA UIC (Not even close) YSU (I'm not even doing this) Oakland (incomplete)
Rob Jeter (9 of 10 years because let's not count actual records because he only recruited Joah Tucker, Adrian Tigert, Chris Hill, etc.): 138-148, 1 HL Regular Season (2011), 1 HL Tournament (2014), 1 NCAA (2014), 1 NIT (2011).
Our SOS (second this year only to Oakland and their murderer's row) is usually middle of the road or better. Last year it was worse, but hey we went to the NCAA Tournament so we can't complain there.
The point I'm making here is, you get what you pay for. A coach's contract is irrelevant if he doesn't have the support elsewhere to run the table. Jeter is getting middle of the road financial support. He's had a revolving door at not just AD but also Chancellor, the two people who could make his work easier by making decisions like...'hey, let's feed all our athletes' or...'hey, maybe it makes sense to allow our redshirts to go on this road swing so they don't miss out on 5 practices with the team.'
I'm out of the whole "let's fire Jeter or not fire Jeter" argument. You all know where I stand. I just want to lay all this out there so we understand what we have.
This season we didn't have the postseason carrot so our star player redshirted and so did a player who would have likely been a 15-20 mpg guy at the wing (Stull). Injuries like Springs' hand can hurt a team (5-4 since he's been healthy) - I mean, look at Wright State's record.
I know I'm playing Devil's Advocate here, but let's be clear here: this isn't like we're paying for a perennial champion. Even Jeter's salary, the often-cited reason for why we should be better, has been passed up by other Horizon League coaches in recent years.

I enjoyed playing in the NCAA Tournament less than one year ago, personally.
Also please keep in mind that in Butler's back-to-back national runner-up seasons, they knocked us out of the Horizon League Tournament, once in the finals. In fact, it happened in three consecutive seasons. The Brad Stevens factor is unavoidable in this discussion, which, by the way, is pointless.
(by the way, Gary Waters has one fewer NCAA Tournament appearance with Cleveland State than Rob Jeter does with UWM. So LOL)

That sweat on the back of Brian Wardle's and GBBBBBBBisBack's neck (hey, has anyone ever seen both those guys in the same place at the same time?) is the fact that Wardle has one fewer than Gary Waters -- and time is running out. By the way GBBBBBB (etc.), I highly recommend the King Bed Studio Suites at the Hampton Inn in Valpo. Very honestly one of the nicest hotel rooms I have stayed in, and I have stayed in hotels all over North America. I wish we were eligible this year if for no other reason than that my wife and I would have been very happy to make a return trip to Valpo, the ARC and the Hampton.
