If they could hit three's, it might be different. 1-17

From 2001-02 to 2004-05, UWM suffered three losses of 20 points or more.
"Hey George, how many gong games have we had over the last nine and a half seasons?"
"Eighty-five, Jerry! Eighty-five!!!!"

(insert excuse about the schedule, playing on the road, redshirts, practice time, basketball PSI, etc.) Rumor has it that Valpo deflated the basketballs. Beat me to the punchline. Someone was fooling with the LED lights at the ARC.

BREAKING NEWS FROM VALPARAISO: Evan Richard scored 4 points on 2-2 shooting! Must have shook the rust off in the Wright State game...

Horrible showing. Valpo is good but not that good. We are a team without shooters yet all our players seemed able to do in the first half was pass and dribble around the perimeter then launch a three. Very disappointing.

This happens far too often here. Far too often.

Perhaps we should hire a high school coach? I'm sure that would solve it.

Perhaps we should hire a high school coach? I'm sure that would solve it. At least it would be step up.

or a REAL Coach. He should be thanking his lucky stars Jordan Aaron played like Kemba Walker last year and that the University was so dumb in auto renewing his contract every year.

Perhaps we should hire a high school coach? I'm sure that would solve it. That's one of several scenarios in which the choice would be preferable to what we've been stuck with. Despite the snark, even a moron would have to acknowledge that Showalter could've taken that '06 team to the NCAA's.

Rob has had us in the championship game -- winning it once -- twice in the last five years. Will the next coach give us that hit rate? Sorry, but the odds are against it. We could get lucky but that's what it would take. Now assuming the Arena is secured, and if Amanda sticks around, and the practice facility comes on line? Well then a new coach would have an immensely -- immensely -- better situation than Rob has had for at least the last five years, and that might up the odds. Of course, it would up the odds tremendously for Rob, too.
I'm not just old, I'm old school. I came up in a time when many schools kept coaches for a long time when they did it the right way, a la Ray Meyer at DePaul. I never had a problem with that. It's not up to me, it's up to Amanda, but if it were up to me I'd love to see what Rob and our guys could do with a solid foundation underfoot for the very first time. Has any D1 hoops staff at the mid-major level or above in the country had a worse Athletic Director/facility issues combination than Rob has had these last seven years? I don't like performances like last night any more than the rest of you but I'm willing to look at it with some perspective, and from my perspective I'm damn proud of the job our guys have done over the years. This stuff about high school coaches is just out in left field. It's beyond risible. Or maybe you guys are assuming we'll lose the Arena and move permanently back to the Klotsche? In that case I suppose it would be entirely appropriate. We could apply for membership in the North Shore.

I, for one, would love to see a solid foundation in place for our men's basketball program so that it can rise to a level where it can afford to pay a coach $500K/year.
Oh wait.

We know you're old, Fran. You remind us several times each year. That doesn't mean you're wise.
You like to talk about how valuable Austin Arians is to this team, and he is. However, losing one guy shouldn't wreck an entire season. Where is the depth? Furthermore, who is being coached up on this team? Evan Richard looked better as a freshman than a senior. The only guy I can think if who got markedly better from Years 1 - 4 was Anthony Hill. Skinner got better his senior year but was a JUCO guy and they're supposed to be ready to play. Tell me, what other players have gotten much better under Jeter? Tony Meier, perhaps? The fact is Rob's best players have been JUCO's. His track record of player development is downright abysmal. But go ahead and piss down all our backs and tell us it's rain, because that's what you do best.

97, I know you're young, and that shouldn't make you snarky, but you sure do your best to prove otherwise. I understand the frustration. I just don't see the objectivity. People want to pretend things about our program that aren't true, and it's mostly because of the Pearl alchemy. That's never going to happen again -- thankfully. We have to do it the right way now. I don't know what's going to happen. Like I said, it's not my decision and I'm glad of it.
