I'm disappointed in Austin's decision and all the rest, but it seems to me that The Arena situation overarches everything.
We've simply got to have a legitimate D-1 facility in which to play and to which to recruit.

I'm disappointed in Austin's decision and all the rest as well, but it seems to me that The Arena situation overarches everything. We've simply got to have a legitimate D-1 facility in which to play and to which to recruit. Maybe you have addressed this before...but may I ask why people are mad at AA redshirting? We can't make the tournament anyways, so I don't get why we would waste a year of his eligibility. I know he could improve, get more experience and all that...but I would rather have him around when we can win a postseason HL title. Also, JJ has looked better the last few games in that he has been staying in the post. He needs to keep working and finish those baby hooks as it seems that he has length over many of his defenders and can get those shots off pretty commonly. Tiby is coming around and has been looking like the old Matt lately...but he just needs to finish at the rim. Last night, I could count numerous times where he just flat out blew layups and putbacks. Finally, we need to figure out how to get Cody more shots....he is our best 3 point shooter with AA out and we need to figure out how to get him involved more in my opinion. I look forward to a bounceback game tomorrow night vs Arkansas on ESPNU. Don't give up on these guys...its the least we owe to Steve in his senior season.

It's not correct to say anyone is "mad" at AA. Even those of us who are frustrated by his redshirt respect his decision. It's his college career and his decision to make and he has made it. Our frustration derives from the fact that there is a lot to play for THIS year, most particularly a league title. The tournament is a blast but post-Butler NO team in the H league comes into a year with better than maybe a 1 in 3 chance to make it. In a 1 bid league with so much parity and a conference tournament with a rich history of upsets that's just the way it is. So it would be silly to redshirt just because of the APR ban. But let's be clear, the fan analysis that suggests that's why AA redshirted is just wrong. There were a lot of factors.
So nobody is criticizing AA. We're just bemoaning the fact that without AA we aren't the same team, and it shows.

The Panthers are 5-7 (3-7 against Division 1 teams) this season including losses against IUPUI (3-8), SIU-Edwardsville (2-7), and Oral Roberts (4-6). Calling this team bad is calling a spade a spade. Bingo. What's important, at this time, is that we make sure that everyone stays aboard. It is us, the fan base, that needs to last. Administrators, coaches and players change. We need to stay, keep moving forward, doing what we can to help build. You guys don't have to be like me. I'm always going to support this coaching staff and the players. You can voice disappointment, anger, and all the like. That's what Freak and the original SBGC started this board for. But you've got to stay on board. There's nothing more damaging to the cause than when a die hard fan becomes despondent and detaches from the program. Outright anger is much better than indifference. If enough of us pull support, the administration of the time (whoever it is) will use it as an indication that they can drop support for the program and we'll never get back to where we want to be. If you can't support the people, support the colors.
