Any chance here for Deonte Burton? He could be our Joah Tucker He would be a nice add to next year's team during the 2nd semester.

The number of transfers in college basketball is out of hand. This leaves MU with, what, seven players!

I assume he would have followed Buzz immediately if he wanted Va Tech. Since he didn't, I doubt he ends up there. He'll probably end up at TranserU (Iowa St.). According to Homer it sounded like he left based on playing time. He can get all the playing time he wants at Milwaukee.

Hoiberg never really stopped running the Timberwolves.

Deonte was at Panther Arena last night. Interesting. I think the Joah Tucker comparison is apt.

This would make a lot of sense, given that Big D's family is hurting after his mother died on Oct. 7.
Prayers for the Burtons!

There were quite few Marquette players at the game last night. I wouldn't take his attendance at the game any more than to watch a college basketball game. It would be nice though.

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't Buzz Williams leaving, but rather the change in Marquette culture that's causing these transfers so long after the fact. Very quietly Marquette has rid themselves of every single significant coach and administrator from the time of the rape coverup, and in doing so has changed the culture of discipline within the athletic department. Williams was notoriously permissive, and something tells me a Koach K disciple like Wojo is less so.

Pantheru is reporting ISU or UCLA and Milwaukee will recruit him. If it is about playing time, MKE should be the choice.

He may be a very good kid and losing his mother is a terrible blow, but before I would get excited about him coming to Milwaukee I would want to know that his departure had nothing to do with his academic performance or standing. Coming off the APR issue we need to be extremely careful. Even if he's an A+ student I would note that he appeared unable to be coached by two different good coaches at Marquette. I certainly didn't see every MU game last year or this, but I have yet to see Deonte have a good defensive game in college. I'm not sure I have even seen him have a great defensive possession.
No doubt he's physically very talented, and his "tweener" size is a lot less of a problem in mid-major ball, a la Joah.
