I thought Justin Jordan looked pretty good!

Akeem's going to have to work on his perimeter game, but what a terrific addition. Big and strong. Justin looked good for a freshman playing for the first time in front of a crowd. He's our backup point guard.

Not saying there game is the same but Akeem Springs brings to the table what Ryan Allen brought.

All the players who needed to look good looked good. Lyle, White, and Springs were obviously impressive, but JJ also had a big second half after not doing much in the first, and the Prahl twins -- who are enormous -- were both collected and efficient in the post. If anything, Alex looked better than Brett (he certainly scored more), which bodes well for us should Tiby see the foul trouble that plagued him last year. As for Justin Jordan, he not only looked like a freshman, but a freshman trying to impress everyone -- some good passes, nice moves into the lane, but poor overall shooting and tons of turnovers. He's got his uncle's leaping ability though, that's for sure.

There are six or seven players on this team more than capable of averaging double figures in scoring.

Great to see the team again tonight. This is a very talented team. Big change from our "mini-guards" of the last few years to this year's edition. We will see much, much more in the way of slashing, driving and attacking.
JR really impressed me in the first practice and he did it again tonight. He has quickness and body control that are rare and he has really improved his shot. Akeem is a load attacking from the wing and a tremendous offensive rebounder at his position. His outside shot wasn't happening tonight but one of the coaches told me he has been tearing it up in practice lately from outside, so it sounds like just a cold night for him. Trinson was excellent tonight. I disagree about the comment that he has a midrange game. He took a couple short shots but his real strength is outstanding activity around the basket, and he can finish notwithstanding his wiry frame.
As SK noted, the Prahl twins were both impressive. They know what they are -- post players, and they work at it. Really impressed by their sense of the game. JJ and Matt were up and down. Actually more like down, then up. Both finished much stronger than they started. Heard that JJ missed most of the last week with an injury, but he's on the mend.
Austin Arians obviously has the green light to shoot anytime, anywhere. He's going to prove that's a good strategy. But he also played some very good post defense against some bigger players. Cody was solid, and the freshmen (Brock and Justin) both showed very solid potential.
We have three returning starters each of whom is easily in the top three at his position in the league. We have newcomers or risers in guys like JR, Trinson, Akeem and the Prahls who are clearly going to be very good players in this league in time. Some of them very soon. Tell me again why we are picked 6th?

Tell me again why we are picked 6th? The APR ban and our reputation as renegades? Good news: the team is keenly aware that it is being picked for sixth and no one likes it ... at all. Adding Akeem to the lineup is akin to adding Boo ... and then there's an improved J.R. and Trinson. Yes, we will be attacking from the wing.

If the Panthers are the 5th or 6th best team in the HL, than the HL might be a two bid league.

Is it safe to say Evan Richards doesn't see the floor much again? I was hoping for a bit more from him this year, similar to Mark Pancratz's senior year back in the day. I wasn't at the scrimmage and i didn't see his name once in any posts above, so my guess is he didn't see much time or just wasn't much of a factor. He was a pretty damn good high school player, who just never seemed to get better at the next level.

Evan is injured and it seems to be a chronic thing. He was there but couldn't play. Hard to say what the future holds for him.
One other note from last night. Marcus Skinner was there helping Al Hanson shoot the video of the scrimmage. Talked to him afterwards and he's back in school to complete his degree. That's great news.
dr: Renegades? Huh?

I would expect Evan to be this year's "Q", but with less playing time.

FWIW, Akeem didn't have problems with outside shots when I saw him play last week.

A couple of us saw Evan and had a long visit with Akeem and his dad at Q dob a after the scrimmage.
Evan is battling a herniated disc in his back and Akeem feels more explosive at 210 pounds. From what I hear, his shot is not a problem.
As for the rest, my friends from Green Bay and Valpo think we're a bandit program. This is why I take such great delight in beating them.
