So would that mean we'd be shoved into the Bradley Center, to share it with Marquette and the Admirals? Or will that also be eventually knocked down? Yuck. Not to mention the waste of, what, $50MM that was just put into the Milwaukee Theater 5-or-so years ago? If the NBA and the Bucks owners want this thing, they better be paying for it, and from that article sounds like they might be pretty close already. Obviously I'm biased being a non-NBA fan, but this entire thing stinks. F-U Bucks and F-U entire NBA.

The roller coaster of highs and lows that is this program is driving me nuts. Every good thing seems to be followed promptly with something absolutely defeating. Gahhh! Being at the arena last night and seeing the improvements being made, it looks great and has a lot of life left. Hearing about these apparent backroom negotiations with no public input makes me angrier by the day. The university and the Wave need to be a lot more vocal about their opposition to this (assuming they are opposed to this). If they are being left out of these negotiations on purpose, is there any legal action that can be taken? I can guarantee you if this was Marquette's arena, this wouldn't be happening because they wouldn't take it lying down. It appears this is being slammed through by the usual powers that be, led by the city of Milwaukee, who look at this as a solution to their empty Journal Sentinel building and UWM and the Wave be damned.

UWM and the Wave would be kicked to the corner by the city they are part of.

Who's not to sat UWM shouldn't play there as well. At least part-time, if the Bradley Center is torn down.

Third to last "The remaining cost of a new arena could possibly come through government financing." What community leader is going to publicly support government financing this new arena. They could make it make part of the existing Wisconsin Center District taxing authority.

So sad. Major Goolsby's is reputedly one of the finest sports bars in America and The Arena is one of its finest basketball facilities. I went to my first Bucks and Marquette games there in 1977 (the Warriors won the championship!) and it's as awesome now as it was then.

Okay, how can we quickly put in paperwork to have the Panther Arena declared a historical landmark? I'm being serious here. Can we get this done?
Also, what is so wrong with putting their palace to the north of the BC?
Go take a look at a map. There is plenty of room right there to put it. What difference does it make if they put it one block south or one block north of the BC? None.
Then when you tear down the BC, you have extra room for your hotel/restaurant/parking structure, whatever you want to do there. You even have more room across the street. If they want to waste more money tear down that parking structure and bar that nothing can get going in.
Why tear down a perfectly good, very well built, and still very useful 11k seat arena?
I'll continue to say it ... F-U NBA and F-U Bucks.

Nice opening salvo by the chancellor, but let me echo the sentiments of others here by asking what has been done since.
These are New York City hedge-fund investors we're dealing with. They're not going to move slowly. Rather, the wheels are in motion!

They're not going to move slowly. Rather, the wheels are in motion! Agreed. Perhaps there are things going on behind the scenes but if not, why hasn't the university (and the Wave for that matter) been more vocal regarding their opposition to this? Do they care if the building gets torn down? I hope so! I, and most of the people on this board, certainly do!

www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2014/11/03/uwm-officials-seek-meeting-with-bucks-regarding.htmlIt looks like UWM is at least trying to meet with the Bucks. I have no idea if the two sides actually did meet or if anything materialized. I'm hoping that UWM is being adamant that a solution to this issue is needed, but who knows? It probably doesn't help that the chancellor at UWM still has the word "Interim" in his title and it also doesn't help that the Bucks' owners don't really have any motivation to allow any competition. The Bucks' owners know that money spent on the Wave or the Panthers (or the Admirals for that matter) is money not spent on the Bucks... why would they want to protect UWM (especially since their roots are in New York, not Milwaukee)?

Rodgers vs. Cutler. Lambeau vs. Soldier Field. Lasry and Edens vs. UWM and the Wave.
It all appears extraordinarily one-sided from where I'm sitting.
