See i don't agree. The site doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. Its that they have yet to secure the rest of the funding since they don't want to pay anymore than they are already. I think there is a chance that because of how much people hate what happened last time with miller park, that there is a chance that this stadium doesnt get done and the Bucks leave. Its down to a game of chicken at this point. Who caves first?

The thing that really scares me is that the Journal Sentinel will have new owners on April 1. If the thing that is holding the whole deal up is that the Journal Sentinel wasn't willing to sell, the new owners may be willing to sell.
I'm not sure how long it would take to demolish two or three buildings, take all of the heavy printing material out of the basement of the Journal Sentinel building, clean that up, and then build a new building. They're apparently looking to start in November of this year and have it ready by the 2017-18 NBA season... that seems like an awfully quick turnaround for all of the additional steps that need to get done. 23 or 24 months may be long enough to get a building built and a few roads rerouted and some utilities fixed up, but adding all of the clean up costs would seem to add a lot of time to the project.
I think I'm just grasping at straws here, though... I'm very afraid about the whole situation.

This is getting creepy again. Smell a rat..why is it taking so freaking long for these guys to provide an actual plan INCLUDING THE SITE!!! Maybe they are stalling for the new owners and will re-visit the arena site. Maybe the UWM appreciation nite at at the Bradley center is a smokescreen??? I don't like this at all but then again I am an off the charts alarmist ie,...money talks, there are people that would like to see UWM sports go away downtown, there are those who would like to bssically dismantle, or shove to Frank Gimbel...not out of the clear yet. And on top of it these guys remins me of Bartholamay and Renynolds from the Milwaukee Braves days...potential carpetbaggers...on top of that these two can afford to front more than $150 mil..give me a break!!!!!!

Some good news. I had the chance to speak today with a person very involved in the process (a leading public figure). He saw the renderings very recently. They show the arena north of the BC. Moreover, he said that the JS/Arena site had been moved away from as it had become "bogged down." On the other hand he also said that the coming political fight (over $) would be a bloodletting. Interestingly in that regard he also intimated that there could still be a contribution expected from MU. Seems President Lovell may simply have been negotiating when MU said it wouldn't be contributing.
Bluntly, as long as the thing is built north of the BC (or not at all), I couldn't care less.

Chancellor: "Just give me some idea of what you think it might be." Steve and Dylan: "I don't know if you're ready for it." Chancellor: "Please." Steve and Dylan: "I believe that we're about to become the target of a systematic process of intimidation and manipulation, the likes of which you have never ... " Chancellor: "Hold it, hold it! You're right, I'm not ready for this."

The Bucks have some planned announcement tomorrow regarding the new arena. Has anyone heard anything about Panther Arena? Pretty sure they are just going to release some sketches of what the new arena is going to look like. Doesn't sound like there will be any announcement on location though. At least nothing official. So it looks like the wait will continue. However, I really don't think there is much to fear in regards to the Panther Arena.

Just saw that. The earlier TMJ4 report I saw mentioned that they wouldn't be announcing the site. Looks like they absolutely are... and it's in a good spot for Panther fans. Not to mention the arena and potential developments around it look amazing.

They could have a $1 trillion renovation for all I care. The Panther Arena is in the renderings and that's what matters.

Seconded. All the shiny ancillary development in the renderings is the most hopeful blue sky at this point, of course. I don't think it's impossible but if it actually happens I'm sure it will look very different.
But reason has prevailed and they have at least sited the new arena in the place that was both obvious and appropriate, and the UWM Panther Arena is safe. I'll take that as a victory. Now if they find the money to build the new palace or don't -- that I don't really care about. As a personal matter it will screw up my commute to my office a little if they do, but that's about the limit of my interest.

10 continuous years of construction plus a huge taxpayer grift from some of America's richest people. At least the stadium actually looks nice.
