The Milwaukee locker room wants GB, CSU, Valpo or whoever to have a big fat asterisk on their back as they prepare for their loss in the First Four. By the way, you are simply wrong on your key stat. With the season on the line JR Lyle stepped up for 20 points when JA was out against Detroit in the last regular season game. That win allowed Milwaukee to play its first HLT game at home, and the run began. Jordan could get amazingly hot as we all saw but because he was so small he could also get shut down by big physical guards, as we also saw. Springs and Lyle are a whole different story.

He wasn't far off. I wouldn't dock him on it, just you know, point out the correction.
I think GBPhoenix1 gave a very solid outsider's perspective on our program right now. We don't know what Akeem Springs and JR Lyle will do with more minutes. JR Lyle did score 20 in that Detroit game and his shot has gotten better in the off season from what BBFran and I have seen in separate practices. Akeem Springs took Jay-O to town in a majority of practices I saw last season.
But we've had practice warriors in the past who haven't turned out - Roman Gentry, Brad Carroll, Michael Tyler and Tyrone Young - those are four guys who looked unbeatable in practice and haven't flipped the switch in games. Luckily we can see some stats from both, they're not newbies - JR Lyle turned it on at the end of last season, Akeem averaged 8 a game as a freshman at NIU - so we'll see.
I don't begrudge any outsiders for not putting much stock in them. Obviously we don't know much about incoming players at other schools.

I also want to state I think pre-season rankings in the HL are useless, but I will say this: picking Wright State low because they really return no one is exactly why people picked them ninth two years ago, and they made people look stupid with a title game appearance.
So we'll see.

Does this team pull together to shred apart with no post season to play for? You guys know better than I do what kind of locker room you have but I think it is a legit question for people ranking the teams. i'm finally ready to say it: milwaukee made it through an offseason that saw the team hit with a postseason ban and no key players transferred. steve could've left and i don't think anyone here would've felt any ill will towards him. austin & matt (particularly austin, who still has his redshirt year) could've definitely found new homes given the talent they've displayed. i truly believe that the family talk leading up to the NCAA Tournament was legit The Milwaukee locker room wants GB, CSU, Valpo or whoever to have a big fat asterisk on their back as they prepare for their loss in the First Four no, no, no! we want them to *win* in the first four. that doubles our payday & all it does is put whoever wins the HL tourney into the regular field of 64...no real bragging rights from that victory picking Wright State low because they really return no one is exactly why people picked them ninth two years ago, and they made people look stupid with a title game appearance. another problem i see with them is that they're lacking up front...they'll have 4 forwards available this year, one of whom (Yoho) is a more perimeter-oriented player I also want to state I think pre-season rankings in the HL are useless definitely...such a thin margin separating most of the teams in the conference

So we'll see. Yes, preseason rankings can be way off. It was just a couple years ago that Milwaukee was highly ranked in most preseason polls but finished dead last. Milwaukee could have the talent to break through and have a winning record in conference play after going 10-22 the last 2 years, but I think some are moving them down the standings because of their history. Milwaukee seems to get a player suspended on a yearly basis under Jeter. Matt Tiby was kicked off his Juco team. Akeem Springs quit on NIU mid-season. Those are key players that are tough to rely on. I will say I'm shocked Milwaukee is ranked below Oakland and WSU in many polls. Oakland couldn't defend Horizon League teams a year ago, and has done nothing to change that. WSU was Co-favorite last year but went just 9-7 with 5 key seniors. They surprised 2 years when they had an influx of athletic Juco talent, but they don't have those caliber recruits this year. 3-9 look rather weak in the HL this year. This conference needs new coaching blood at 4 schools minimum.

They can definitely be way off. Most had GB in the Tournament last year and we saw what happened.

If only we had some history with Matt Tiby at Milwaukee so we would know if we could rely on him.
I see the GB fans are getting anxious and contentious as the season approaches. The question in the back of all nine Phoenix fans' minds must always be "how are we going to crap the bed in March this year?"

If only we had some history with Matt Tiby at Milwaukee so we would know if we could rely on him. Have you already forgotten the Jordan Aaron incident from last year. His suspension costed Milwaukee a shot at finishing in the upper half of the standings and a shot at a winning conference season. Aaron, like Tiby, was kicked off his Juco team, and like Tiby, survived his first season without incident. That didn't make him reliable, and neither is Tiby.

Your trolling attempts suck. You clearly don't have a clue. You can count on Matt helping to crush Phoenix fans' dreams for the next two years.

His suspension costed?
Cost us what? You're talking about the MVP, right?
Ah, Halloween! A time for ghosts, goblins ... and trolls.
